For anyone who's ever lived in Boston and loves history, then you need to take a look at this cool site. :thumbsup2 I found it by doing a search on Scollay Square in Boston...here, take a look here: Scollay Square. This site shows pictures of the demolition of the Hotel Madison, the Old Howard, Sally Keith, and many more areas. Hope you enjoy.

Looks like a cool site. I will definitely have to check it out when I have more time. :cool1:

What a great site! The old Madison hotel! Did you know that's where the Beatles stayed when they played at Boston Garden? :teeth:

My mother use to tell me about her trips into the Old Howard with friends and my dad. She would have gotten quite a kick out of seeing this website.

I was hoping that some of the photos would jog a memory or two but, being born in the late 1940's, most of this stuff is just way before my time.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to send it to my brother who is 7 years older than me.

No prob for the link. If I can bring a smile to someone with this link, then I'm happy. I fell in love with this site when I looked through it. I am not originally from here, so I can't talk about the old days, been here only 7 years, but I love history and this site. I have been very curious about Scollay Square ever since I performed in the opera by Scott Wheeler, "The Construction of Boston." In this opera, it talks about Boston from the beginnings to present day. And in it, it mentions Scollay Square, and this is where my fascination comes from. And it doesn’t hurt that I love old buildings, would have been a architect if I didn't hate math so much.

Very cool! I work in Government Center, close to the Red Hat. I'll have to check out that site more in depth when I have time. Thanks!

Well this is what I always think of when I hear the name Scollay Square.

Charlie's wife goes down to the Sculley Square Station every day at quarter past two,
And through the open window she hands Charlie a sandwich as the train comes rumblin' through.

:rotfl:

(singing) I love that dirty water! Boston, your my home!(singing)

Thanks for the site! Very cool!
