I receive the Marshall Field's Direct Catalog.

This was in the issue I received today on page 4/5.

Peppermint Pig

A century-old tradition begun in Saratoga Springs, New York, the Peppermint Pig is believed to bring good luck and good health for the coming year. After a holiday meal, the pig is cracked with a tiny hammer (included) and shared among family members. Our authentic Peppermint Pig is still made in Saratoga from the original recipe. 5 1/2 long, 8 oz. Story card included.

There is also a picture of the pig, the hammer and the red velvet pouch it comes in.

Kinda cute:D

What a fun find! Thanks for sharing that! I just ordered one for my DS and BIL who just purchased SSR. What a great idea to include with their Christmas gift.

If you use coupon code FCABSENDFREE when you order from the website, there is no shipping charge. And if you use coupon code FCWELCME2222 you will get 15% taken off your order!

Ok, I'm clueless--what is the connection with SSR owners?? Hope some one can enlighten me. I received one of the pigs for Christmas several years ago, and it was so cute, I hated to crack it.

It originated and is still made in Saratogo Springs, NY.

Thought it was a cute idea for the new SSR owners who maybe wanted a little special gift to give someone on their first trip home.

:D

You coulds always order the pig directly from "saratoga Sweets" the originator and owner of the molds.
www.saratogasweets.com phone is (518) 373-0073
They have all diffrent size pigs right down to pig poop which is actually chips of peppermint.
It started as a little candy store the size of a closet until they found the pig molds.

Sorry I forgot to add that they will be sold in the gift shop at Saratoga Spring when it opens. I just hope that they sell Saratoga water as oppossed to Dasani from Coke as the waters is why people came to SS in the first place.

Yes DVC Don they are now made in CP but they originated in a little shop on Caroline Street and that was before I was married so we are talking nearly 20 years and have moved a couple of times since then. The "Crafters Gallery" in SS is also an outlet for them.
Either web address will get you there. The Saratoga sweets one is the one they use locally. Look for the "PIG' in his Tux at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade

Thanks so much for the info. Sounds like a great Christmas gift for the DH.
