Yes. The gift is a gift. The tip is for services rendered on the 24th. Separate things.
I agree.
On top of what she charges me for haircut, I usually tip 20% which comes out to $8/$10 each time depending on if I get my brows down, or when I get my highlites. So that's about another $120/year since I go every 4/5 weeks (sucks to have a short pixie do
). AND, she cuts my DD's hair too and I tip them as well????
She's very discreet, but, we were actually talking about something else when his name came up. She fits me in for last minute appointments when she could have gone home. Has never treated me less important than her other clients. Squeezes me in for "free" bangs trimmings (which I always tip her well,) and I tip her 20% for all these services.
.
I am confused about this whole "give your hairdresser a gift thing". Giving gifts is a lovely idea but it almost seems like it is a "requirement" these days. Don't get me wrong, I love my stylist, we have a great time but the way I look at it, I go to her, pay her to do my hair, in essence paying her paycheck AND I am supposed to give her a gift??? Seems kind of backwards in my book--especially considering she is making about $50/hour after you take out expenses. She works 2 days/week and clears about $50,000/year.
One of the reasons I left my salon was because I brought dd6 in for a bang trim (she used to get her hair cut there as well), and I was charged $15.
That's crazy. I do free bang trims also. I cannot imagine charging 15.00 for a bang trim. That's crazy. I do free bang trims also. I cannot imagine charging 15.00 for a bang trim.

That's nuts. I hope you didn't tip after being charged that

Another time, she snipped both sides, practically recutting the whole top & sides, to get the sides to blend in with my bangs.
