According to my "I-95 exit information Guide" (I know I'm a dork) it lists it as Exit 92 A/B (Hanover/Ashland). There are about a dozen hotels listed at this exit including Days Inn, Holiday Inn, Econolodge, Quality Inn & Suites, Super 8 etc. Also many places to eat including: Cracker Barrell, Burger King, KFC, Shoneys, Subway, Tacobell etc. Gas, Grocery and CVS also located at this exit.

So do you all recommend this book? I just ordered my free maps, books and triptik from AAA and was wondering if the I-95 book basically has the same info.

I noticed the latest version is April 2008 which seems out-of-date to me, esp with the economy the last two years and places going out-of-business.

I think Ashland is just north of Richmond so it would be around exit 80-85...

It's been over 10 years since we last drove to WDW, and I'm trying to figure out where to stop. We're leaving the NYC area at about 4 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. I'm thinking we'll be ready to stop for the night in NC, and are looking for a safe, decent hotel. Any experiences with either Rocky Mount or Wilson? I'd appreciate any advice

So, we decided to try a new plan next week. We're leaving home at around 11:30am Tuesday and we're driving to Dublin, VA to spend the night. It looks like we'll get there around 9 o'clock. Then, we're planning on waking up the next morning and heading out between 6-7am. It looks like we'll arrive around 7pm on Wednesday night. Decided to do this because we get an extra night in WDW cool1 and because we didn't feel like waking up at 4am on Wednesday morning. It was always great to get most of the driving done the first day and being so close to disney the second day, but we just don't know if doing 16 hours of driving in one day is worth it. The way it looks, each day will now be about 10 hours of driving.

Note to Kat - I'm not sure when you're leaving, but I would suggest making a reservation. There were some hotels I had my eye on that were sold out. If you're travelling on Feb school vacation just keep in mind that you won't be the only person on the road!

The version I actually have is not a book but, it was a download that I paid $6.95 for and then printed it out. It is actually from a couple of years ago but, it is still quite accurate. We just used it in mid March and I didn't notice any decrease in restaurants and in fact some of the exits we stopped at actually had more restaurants and stores than listed in the guide. Friends of ours used it in early August and noticed the same thing. I would definately reccommend it, it has been unbelievably helpful. Unfortunately, I don't remember where I got the site to download it from but, I do remember looking in the book which is what gave me the idea in the first place (maybe the site is in the book? sorry just not sure). I think the book would be a good idea to purchase if you can't locate the download.

I agree 100%! We are 5 min from Paramus and if it were me I would leave on Thursday evening, you definately do not want to hit DC during rush hour.

Thanks, we will try to leave on Thursday evening and stay somewhere in Virginia. That may put us in Jacksonville at Rushour on Friday.

I guess we can try to get to the VA/NC border on our fist night.

I stayed in the Comfort Inn in Rocky Mount two years ago, would stay there again. It was in the same parking lot as an Outback, I was doing the drive by myself then so I had dinner there with a couple adult beverages to help me sleep.

I just booked a room at the Days Inn in the same area, was able to use FF miles to get the room for free. For what I'm looking for it seems OK. If you're on US 301 there's just about every chain restaurant you can think of within a 1 mile radius, you won't have any trouble finding somewhere to eat.

We're driving down to southern VA this year on our first night, about a hour north of the NC line and we're planning on getting to Jacksonville around 3 the next day (leaving the hotel about 7am). So, if your worried about Jacksonville traffic, you could get a good headstart from your hotel that morning or take 295 around the city.

I just watched the Weather Channel and the mid Atlantic is having this storm as well as us tonight (just a small amt) Safe driving!

Note: A number of rest stops on I-95 have been closed due to state budgetary cuts. Check the free I-95 web site for details.

Southern and Central NJ are expected to get at least a half-foot of snow on Saturday, more if the storm tracks northward. Freezing temps are expected until early next week when we creep into the mid-30s and get, perhaps, even more snow. Ugh.

The greater Orlando, FL weather on Saturday? Forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, high 60s. Ahh....

It's about 12 hours since you folks departed. You've probably passed Lake Marion in SC and are on your way to GA. And then tomorrow: Exit #67 on I-4!

Oh, our latest forecast? Not probably a half-foot of snow: at least a half-foot of snow!

Driving has that flexibility of departing when the driver wants to. However, when you fly, someone else decides when you depart. With the approaching snow storm, the airline cancellations will start tomorrow, stranding lots of good folks who wanted to get to their respective destinations.

So since snow is predicted for Tuesday night on the east coast we may have to change our route We may have to take 95 all the way down since it looks like snow might be coming across some parts of 81. I'm dissapointed about this because I've really started to like 81, there's never any traffic and the views are amazing. 95 just drags on with trees,trees,traffic, and more trees.
