"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

ZERO.
Would love to price out gas/time costs versus just taking discount carrier (Spirit/Frontier).

Early morning flight on day 1 will put you in the park by evening.
Days 2-3 full days in Park
Day 4 park am with last flight out.

You get to see 4 parks.
3 nights in hotel.
Much less food bill.

Why would anyone drive 2,000 miles outside of extreme fear of air travel?

For us, we have 5 kids. When they were young and all traveled with us, the cost to fly 7 people to Disney was crazy high...usually over $2,000 not including parking fees. We could drive for under $1,000 including hotel stays, food, gas, tolls, etc. Now we only have 1 or 2 kids who travel with us and they're adults (college student and recent grad) so if we wanted to fly, we could just pay for their tickets -- but we still drive. We like being in control of the trip; enjoy the adventure; and like being able to pack as much as we need and not how much fits in a certain size suitcase and doesn't go over a weight limit. We love a good road trip to anywhere. If we're going somewhere in this country or Canada, we're probably driving. There's so much to see along the way to anywhere. It helps that my husband has 6 weeks of vacation a year and I don't work outside the home, so taking the extra time to drive doesn't really eat into our vacation time at all (we stay at Disney 7 or 8 nights -- same as if we would fly) and we consider the drive part of the vacation. I know driving 2,000 miles doesn't work for everyone, but based on the number of people who post on this thread, it obviously works for a lot of people.

I don’t have any fear of flying.

We drive and still have lots of vacation days.
We fly as well but never Spirit/Frontier.
This trip we left last Thursday night got in Friday after noon. We drive home the following Saturday. If we wanted we had 7 park days not that we would ever do that. We’re at the beach today.

I drive there five days a week. lol. The worst part is every time I leave the park, I drive home.
I did make reservations in June for five nights in a cabin at Copper Creek. We stayed in a bungalow at the Poly last year so I figured we’ll try the cabins.
It was our 40th wedding anniversary on March 9th and I had to work.
Nothing like camping in your backyard where you work. lol.
See ya tomorrow! I’ll be walking around the park before work.

Departed southeastern Mass at 2:30 am yesterday morning. Stopped twice for gas and restrooms. Arrived in Santee, SC at 4:50 pm. Smooth sailing the entire way. We considered continuing on but decided to stop for the night. Left the hotel at 7:40 this morning. Stopping for lunch in St. Augustine then on to Disney Springs! Best travel days ever!
Just reading this again. I’m in SE MA I didn’t know you were in southeastern MA too

We are on the road home to MA. Lots of traffic in GA and SC already. 😩 Probably won’t make as good time as the drive down.

I find it much more convenient to pack a car and go rather than try to pack less to meet luggage requirements. The journey is just as important as the destination. (But in all honeslty, I pretty much have all the time in the world as I'm retired, so I'm not dealing with a work schedule or school schedule.)

Today I had the pleasure of meeting David, dvczerfs, at Epcot. David, thank you for the nice chat. It is always nice to put a voice and face with a name. Maybe I'll catch you again before the year is out.
YES!!! Finally after all these years. You caught me off guard, I thought you already left to head home. Lol. It was great meeting you! Let me know the next time you’re coming down, I can give you my schedule and where to find me.
Yes, I did get my transfer. I’m going to miss my old location but that is the best part working for the company, you can stay in one spot or you can venture out and try different locations.
I’m looking forward to it, well let’s be honest, I’m looking forward to walking one mile a day and not ten and doing it in air conditioning. lol.

Enquiring minds want to know, what is your new role? And hours?
Perhaps one of my regular visits to the parks will align with you work schedule.
Disney scheduling is a little ruff. lol. The only people who work the same time, every week for long periods of time don’t work in a park, at most levels.
I have three more days at my current location, tomorrow 2:45-11:15. Thursday 5:45pm - 2:15am ( yes, you read that correctly, Epcot had a buyout) and Saturday 8:30-5:00. Those three shifts I’ll still be at the same place we messaged before.
My days off are changing, for now, I’m off Friday and Saturday. Those will change when we do a new bid. We bid twice a year on days off and shifts, goes by seniority which I don’t have much. lol. From the schedule drop, they drop every Saturday night at midnight, the next week I’m mostly 2:15-11:00 but give me a few weeks till the schedule settles, training and transfers and I’ll message you. I’m not comfortable posting my exact schedule and location on the World Wide Web, not that anyone is hunting me down but you never know. lol.
When someone calls me and says, there is someone here for you, I always ask two questions , is it a lady with a kid? (its not mine). lol.
Or, does the person have a badge? lol. Which a lot of time they do because of the role I’m in.
Both very important questions. Lol
I should be working “nights” what we call a closer. Which usually start 2-3pm time frame. I like closing, Traffic is very little at that time both directions. Summer months, you know how it is when the sun starts going down, it’s a tad cooler and most of the day is mostly gone and everything, for the most part is settled in. Don’t get me wrong, evenings are not a cake walk, some guest have enjoyed all the festivals and what they have to offer and the rest of them are hot, sunburnt and tired. lol.
I’m going to miss “rope drops” on the weekends, always a thrill, as a guest or a cm. lol
