Hi Dave,

Bought a new/used vehicle this weekend, cash. Oh we are bleeding money lately, hope your a/c can make it through the summer.

what ya buy???? :yay:

a/c holding out????? did I ever tell you what I do for a living????? :lmao:the only time I have no a/c is if the power goes out and then I cash in some points at the local Hampton inn. :lmao: if we were planning on staying here the rest of our lives I would get a generator but let the next owner spend there money. :lmao:

Strangely about half of the 14 or so stations I pass every day now lowered their prices by a few cents. So they stayed higher only for Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Maybe it was a weekend thing?

there just jamin those weekender, out of state beach goers. :lmao:

We really like the Country Inn and Suites at Savannah, GA. It's always been a good experience for us. We used to like the Microtel in Walterboro but haven't been there in a few years so not sure if it's still good. Boring breakfast though. Have you gone through the Tripadvisor reviews? I like to read them and average it all out.

I have probably over done it ! I've read so many reviews of probably every hotel in that area!

I am trying to make a list of the nicer places so when we get closer we can book something and we will know if it's decent place ahead of time.

I am going to add these suggestions to my list!

Thank you for your suggestions!!

Which is why I buy gas on Tuesdays in the summer. ;)

:lmao: well at least it keeps your taxes low. :lmao:

(I can see your face, does it look like this? :furious: ) :lmao:

that's ok, we pay more gas tax here in pa to keep our roads in repair. ill try to post this picture I took Monday morning. (for the local people) its on rt248 and rt33 near all kinds of shopping centers. this hole is about 3 foot wide and 5 foot long. you can see the rebar!!! its in the middle of an exchange off of a highway so there are 4 lanes in each direction plus a turn lane in two of the directions. very heavily traveled. this hole has been there for two years!!!!! the only time you don't have to drive around it is when it snows and the plow fills it in with snow. hey, at least the Phillies and the eagles have new stadiums. :sad2:

hotels on the fly strategies are always fun. this past December we planned on driving straight through which we did but I made three different resis in Hampton inns from here to ga. :lmao: I figured if there was bad weather and people start pulling off, I wanted to be sure to have a room. as long as I cancel by 6pm of the check in day, I didn't have to pay any cancellation fees. i cancelled them the day we left, the weather from here to florida was sunny. (slept in the car once because of bad weather and im getting to old for that crap.):lmao:

Gas tax is going up in PA too. Trying to be the highest in the country.

It's even quicker to pick up 476 at Nova if you go down Warner Ave (runs parallel to Old Eagle School Rd) to Croton Rd to King of Prussia Rd.

We just moved out of Spring Ford last week. Building a house in Quakertown that will add to our Disney drive but not too much.

Thanks for the tip. I will put it in my trip binder. In Quakertown you can hang at the Q Mart lol. I hear it's a lot better than Zerns :rotfl:

A Blazer with 55k miles on it. Mike will drive it to work or around town. The Minnie van is still the family vehicle. We just didn't want a car payment.

I went a few years with no payments. I have two of them now. :lmao: this is the last harah!! we are buying or taking a car to florida and it can stay there and keeping one up here in another six years.

OMG!! My dad used to drag me to both of these places as a kid. The only highlight was the snow cone or salt and vinegar french fries that we would get on the way out of Q Mart... oh yeah the beta fish. Can't forget the beta fish. Or the cat that was brought home with a million fleas from their pet shop. You just brought back a million memories for me!!

We take the kids to the Q-Mart about twice a year, once in the winter when they're bored and once in the summer to get some local produce! My kids love the race cars! I love the pizza and sticky buns and dh loves the homemade fries with vinegar ;)

Hi Neighbor and welcome to the best thread on the DIS!

We've done the drive from our area at least a dozen times so I'm probably your best best for info and advice at least until Northern Delaware on 95.

Are you driving on a weekday or weekend? We have found that the best bet for us is leaving around 9 am. It gets us into DC around 11:30, and through Richmond by 2:00 in the afternoon so it always avoids rush hour. On a summer weekend, that won't work, you need to leave around 4 am.

We have found that the quickest route is to pick up the Blue Route around Villanova, we cut over from 422 at KoP, I think it's up Eagle School Road then hit 30. It's a little quicker than going all the way down the Schuylkill to Conshohocken.

Let me know anything else you'd like to know. We lived in Cranberry Estates for 5 years before we moved to Limerick to get into the school district, PV wasn't working for us since our DS has autism. S-F has been much better.

Thanks Sharadoc Just the info I was looking for. We are driving down on a weekday this year. The last 2 time we drove were weekends and we drove through the night. We would like to drive during the day this year and of course we will go straight through. We can get in the house we rented for the first 4 days at anytime. Then it's off to OKW for the rest of our trip..

Every time I tell somebody I am moving the Quakertown, they mention the Q Mart!

Marts are an awesome piece of "history", and sticky buns and french fries and pizza for sure! I have a relative who has bought furniture and rugs from there LOL. Plus a flea market outside is fun.

Yeah, love that kinda stuff for a day trip, something to do that's "different" and you end up with some baked goods or something cheap for your house.

The answers to most of your questions depends on what you want to accomplish driving wise. Are you looking to do more driving the first day on the way home? What is your estimated total trip in hours? For a reference, I have left WDW around 8 am and found myself hitting VA around 6 pm, with just over an hour of stops.
