Okay, a couple of serious questions.

1. What is the definitive way through Washington DC at 7 am on Saturday morning. Of course, NOT 495 West. What do you all recommend?

2. Do you think there's any chance the South Carolina primary is going to affect traffic on Saturday? I doubt it but some of you may have some insight.

40 hours ... :woohoo:

You got it! I saw the discounts came out, I'm glad you could go where Tammy wants to ! :rotfl: We love the Boardwalk, maybe some day we could corodinate trips and stay there together, although probably not next door this time!!!

We don't know what to pack, it's supposed to be really warm.

i see it looks like it will hit the 80 mark. is it me or did the price of rooms go way up???? even with the ap discount, the cheapest room at the poly is $3200 for eight nights in may. :confused3 i paid $2700 for 8 night at the contemp, mk view two years ago. looks like we are staying on point from now on. starting next year ill have my points built back up for the next 10 years or so. we were getting 2 bedroom units for the three of us the last 3-4 years and ended up borrowing. so, now im back on track for two trips per year, 8 night and a 12 night at okw in one bedrooms. thats the only problem going this time of year, could be 80 or it could be 40.

That's the problem when you pay cash because the seasons really make a difference in price. That's why we're probably going in August instead of June - the price difference is amazing. You're going in May, the highest season pricing of the year, at least $200 more a night!!!

Our last two January/February trips were very cool. Prior to that, we always had nice weather in the 60s and 70s so this is going to be a little warmer than we would like, but it's better than cold.

Only problem now is rain tomorrow for the drive :headache: Will slow us down.

Howdy!

1. Six a.m. would be better but base the departure on the weather. If it's rain, not much of a problem; if it's sleet or snow, it's a problem.

2. No effect on traffic (a hotair balloon supporting one of the candidates did cause massive slowdowns several days ago on one highway).

All the best. :thumbsup2

Thanks. What road should we take around DC??? We won't leave before 4, just not possible. If we hit the road on time, we should hit DC around 6:30.

We take I-95.

But the snowy weather will be a major factor in the total time of your upcoming drive.

Be safe. Drive cautiously.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Left 4:30 am. We drove very cautiously but it didn't help. We actually had a major spin-out 2 exits from our home and landed on a slope. Luckily no one hurt, no major damage to van although we did hit a roadside small sign, so some minor dents in passenger side door.

Had to be towed up to the road, then could only do about 25 mph until we hit mid-Delaware. Wonderful PennDot road crew helped us rather than make us wait for AAA.

Final result - I'm typing this from around Florence, so it's taken us 13 1/2 hours so far. Still have about 7 to go. Had ice and rain through mid-Virginia. But not a lot of traffic, LOL. So we had to stay on or below the speed limit.

We're in a positive mood, though. After all, we'll still be sleeping at WDW tonight. Just later than we thought!

OMG that sounds like a hairy start. Wishing you travling grace and good luck on the remainder of your trip.:wizard::wizard:

I really feel stupid... I've done the route before, but need some help, as I remember I was panicked the whole drive, thinking I missed something.

Coming from Upstate Ny to Port Canaveral in February for the Dream. The route is 81-77-26-95... BUT where do I pick each one up? And is this a safe drive in the winter?:confused3

Thankyou!

Glad to hear you made it through the bad roads with minor problems. Glad to hear everyone is OK. Our trip, the weather was great, but when we got there the cold had followed us. Looks like you are going into a week of High 70s to low 80s. Bring some of that back with you, OK?

We hope all is well now that you have arrived.

Looking forward to hear how the rest of your drive went, considering the tornado warnings in SC on the day of your drive.

All the best. :thumbsup2

So glad they are there okay, if but wiped out. I just don't know how you all can do it in one clip. Mentally and physically too much for our family. By 8pm, 11 hrs I was crying like a baby for a shower and bed. But, I also do not get much rest the night before, if any.

But, if you can do it in a day, then that is more time at Disney!

Maybe this summer will be a drive and off site hotel to fit in an off school trip.

thats how we started doing it in one shot. i can never sleep the night before. i just lay there flipping and flopping. so. we started hitting the road around 3-3:30am. (im up at 4am for work everyday anyway, no biggie for me) by 7:30pm, your pulling in. we unpack, get settled, take showers and have a quick bite than watch some tv in bed. we dont last long, we both are out in 5 min.:thumbsup2 up early the next morning. off to dtd to earl of sandwich for breakfast. do some looking around than off to publix for some food. back to resort for some lunch and a nap and hit our first adr by 6pm.
next day and eveyday afetr that we do parks in the early am. back in the pm.
when its just tammy and i, we do find some benches here and there and just enjoy scenery.

[A page two rescue of this thread!]

Now, then: who is our next 2,000+ mile round trip driver?

As I write this I just noticed the 3:47 p.m. temp. at WDW: 81-degrees and sunny!

All the best. :thumbsup2
