Dave, not only are we going to be there the same time but we have the same birthday. What are the odds? About 1 out of 365 actually. Jon
:lmao: time is ticking on 45 and heading to 46!!:scared1:
Things that make you go "hmmm"...our plans just changed, now leaving from North Jersey also same time as Disneybride2002, around 3 or 4 pm! Was thinking of doing 95:scared1: to "save" an hour, but BC1836 may have just convinced me to head out 78 to the 81 route--which I know is a more civil route, but still I wanted to "save" an hour... Hoping to drive around 8-10 hrs the first day., maybe stop around Charlotte around 2am, ambitious, I know...

Safe travels and thanks everyone for the inspiration:yay:
Michele/RutgersAlum

all these people on i78, anyone care to slow down at the rt33 exit so i can jump in!:cool2: ill even take my turn driving. you may get there faster than you thought.:lmao:

Gosh, I'm not sure? I want to 4-5 hours? I wanna say last time we stopped at the waffle house in MD?

and actually I lied, first time we went, we did leave after school, but looking back at pics, I forgot we stopped to say good bye to my grandma and that took us forever lol!

We stopped before we even hit philly that time! DC traffic was long gone by then!

Doing our 3rd drive down in 3 weeks. WOW have car rental prices gone up a lot since we went last May. We have our hotel booked in Kingsland and now just can't wait to get the car and go.

We leave this Saturday from IL. first time going to Disney!

Here's wishing you a stress-free drive and a WONDERFUL first trip! :wizard:

Who knows, you may just catch the "fever" like the rest of us. After all, driving makes it SO much easier to schedule another trip :drive: maybe sooner than you think.

Just added a couple days to the start of our trip in Sept. Truly, the biggest benefit for me of driving is the ability to tinker with the schedule. :thumbsup2

pwdebbie, did you hear how things turned out with the bus crash last month? i guess everyone is home?

The worst injury was the wife of the bus driver who got hit by flying luggage and coolers because she was in the very back of the bus. There was a thanksgiving service on the following Wednesday night at Open Door Church (where the bus was from) and everyone on the bus was there including the driver's wife, who was moving slowly, but able to attend. As awful as it looked, it is truly a miracle that there were no life threatening injuries. The kids held a free car wash last week to give back to the community.

T-25 Days until our first road trip! We are leaving a day earlier and made my hotel reservations for the stop over and for the extra day. We can't wait! Planning a fun breakfast stop along the way as well.

So much to do, so little time.

Any Chicagoland drivers have any recent trip updates?

We leave in 13 days from the burbs....planning on doing it straight thru

would love info as well

Hey Everyone....I have been reading the thread off and on as we are driving from the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago in 17 days :cool1:

This is our first trip and we are driving down :confused3 (yeah I know).

Anyhow! I have read some threads on the board that it is best to take:

I355 - I80 - I57 - I24 - I75 - FL Turnpike..and make our way from there.

Is this the best route? Has anyone taken this lately to know roads & conditions etc since all the crazy weather (tornados, rain, etc) that all the midwest and southern states have gotten the last couple of months?

Also, we are debating between leaving on Friday night between 6-7pm or leaving around 6am in the morning saturday... thoughts?

(information to help with suggestions: we have two boys ages 7 & 9, dh and I are night owls so we tend to stay up late (around 1-2 in the am); we do take roadtrips downstate approximately 3-4 hours about once a month or every other month.)

Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated...

Howdy neighbor, we are just a suburb away from you and it looks like driving down a few days earlier.
We will be taking 65 thru Indy since we plan on leaving around 7pm on a Tuesday night.
Hope it goes well
:goodvibes

Getting very excited and stressed all at the same time. One is for the traveling and the other is work related.

If you don't mind me asking, about where in IL are you leaving from? In the chicago area? What route are you taking down?

We are leaving on the 12th in the evening or morning of the 13th (cant decided yet)...from the NW suburbs of Chicago.

Aww - you're a veteran on the travel part, so I know you'll be great. Hope the work stress calms down for you and you can relax and have a great time. :wizard:

Yay! Another IL driver... do you plan on driving right through or stopping? We are debating on how to do this whether to leave at night or the next morning and then to go straight through or go take the 2 days to get there... have you made the trip before?

This is our first trip...so we are SUPER EXCITED , but reallyl nervous about the driving part :scared1:
