I used to be a huge fan of rotating, but something has changed either in my feet or the shoes, and I can't wear my running shoes anymore. And that has lasted for 2 pairs of them...they seem to destroy my feet.
I had a chance meeting with a woman whose grown (same age as I am) daughter has wide feet like I do, and she had found the Disney theme Crocs Athens at the parks, and now swears by them. The woman called her daughter up, and I saw that she had wide swathes of bandaids across the skin of the top of her foot, but she said her foot bones etc were so comfy it didn't matter.
And that has been my experience, since I bought the same Athens (at WOD, but they were also in the very back, facing away from the door, of Rushin' River Outfitters at GRR). My skin isn't in love with them, but the more important parts of my feet can't get enough of them. And standing in lines in the Athens feels even better than walking! They are just so cushy for my feet.
I still have a problem with where one part of left foot is rubbed by the strap (I didn't even get a blister, it just took off the skin, and then I went on Grizzly, and my skin is horribly sensitive to GRR's water) since my feet are wide and Crocs aren't made for wide feet (they are made to fit BIG on *average* feet), and my "index" toes have a blister problem...so I have my "index" toes wrapped in bandaids, put a big bandaid on the top of my foot where it rubs, and then....
use BodyGlide (I got it at REI) all over the tops of my feet...
and now I am at last VERY comfy at the parks, without having to switch shoes every 5 minutes.
(this is such a change from a year ago!)
...I bought a pair of Skecher's sandals that have the strap across the top of my foot that is adjustable. I got the cuteness and comfort/coolness of sandals with the comfort on the bottom of a tennis shoe.
I have got to check those out. They look so cute, and I've seen that they have widths.
