Hey all, first time DCL cruiser asking more questions. What does everyone do for footwear on CC? Normally for a beach I would just wear slides and take them off on the beach. Would just doing water shoes be easier? Just want to grab water shoes while they are cheap at the end of the season if we will need them.

On a similar note, are water shoes allowed in the ship pools and on the slide? We are on the Dream. I don't like wearing them but had a terrible time with the surfaces at Legoland last year and my bare feet. DD and DH had no problem, not sure why it bothered me so much. The textured walkways just hurt.

It's really up to you. The paths out to the beaches are paved, but the beach is a very soft sand. Water shoes will be more stable in the soft sand, I think, if that's a concern for you.

Water shoes seem to be allowed everywhere.

No need for water shoes at CC, unless you are taking an excursion. We wear sandals and do just fine. On the ship, we do the same. The deck arround the pool is made out of wood. It gets warm in direct sunlight but the surface itself is very smooth. Nothing like what you find around pools on land.

We wear flip flops. The last time we were there, the tide went out in the afternoon and the beach was a little rocky with small shells or pebbles. We managed okay but you may want to have some water shoes in your bag if this could cause you some discomfort.

I think the last time we were there, we just walked in our water shoes. One less thing to haul about. Kept my feet from frying on the pavement/sidewalk but easy to walk in the sand. We actually bought ours on board that trip because of an earlier port tour that required them. Best purchase ever.

We wore water shoes on the Aqua Duck so our feet didn't burn on deck and on the metal stairs. Flip flops would've come off at the bottom of the Aqua Duck.

We wear our water shoes on CC at all times. The rocky shore and broken shells can cut your feet. When were where there two years ago we had our next door neighbor (cabanas) to get cut up pretty bad. He had to go to the First Aid Station for help.

Both the sand and the pool deck can get VERY hot! I don't recall seeing anyone in the pool with water shoes. You can still wear them to edge and leave them there so you can walk on the deck. I don't think you will have any issues wearing them on the slides.

We wore water shoes on the way down at at the beach for the reasons said; nobody wants to slash their foot on coral/broken shells (we were by the first aid station and saw a LOT of this) but packed some flip flops in our beach bag to wear at lunch and on the walk back to the ship because I hate the sensation of walking around in wet water shoes after they are all wet.

On CC- I wear flip flops, DH wears Sperry's, DDs wear water shoes. DH and I go barefoot on the beach and in the water, we are more concerned about our girls stepping on something than ourselves.

On the Magic, DD was not allowed to wear water shoes on the yellow slide (Twist & Shout??). Our next trip was on Fantasty, we didn't even try and left our shoes with the rest of our stuff.

Good idea to wear water shoes if you go snorkeling without fins, like me. Way out there the underwater objects can be rough. Great fun to find and photograph...don't forget your underwater camera. Also, check your swim suit pockets to be sure your cell phone or Ipod isn't in them when you go in the water...also like me. Drowned my Ipod, never to be revived first time at CC. Been back three times since and my electronics stay on ship. Enjoy...!!

I agree about the water shoes. I was very happy to have them the times we have visited CC. My DH was wearing Teva sandals and he wore them into the water because of the shells and broken coral. Unfortunately the pieces were getting between the shoe and the bottom of his foot, which was really painful, so he kept having to take them off to clear it out. He was definitely missing his water shoes.

We just brought our flip flops with us and a large zip lock bag to put the water shoes in at the end of the day.

I saw a man step on a sea urchin on our last visit to CC this past May and it wasn't pretty.
I will never go into the ocean again without water shoes.

I'mma order me up some water shoes then. So *is* it allowed in the pools proper aboard ship? I'm sure they aren't needed in there.

When we were on the Fantasy in 2017 they didn't let my dd wear her flip flops on the Aquaduck, but I was able to wear my water shoes.

Oh that is something I would do!

Thanks all for the responses. I think I will go ahead and grab us some water shoes for CC. I have never had trouble on a beach before, but my feet seem to be way more sensitive in my fourth decade and I want to enjoy my day.

Crocs for the win!!

We bought some water shoes at Costco that look more like tennis shoes. Those work well too. There is a bit of a rocky entry in some places so if you have sensitive feet it's good to have them.
