We are visiting MK 2/16th, park closes at 9pm for ticketed event. I read there is a cool light show on the castle at 8:45pm. Any votes on if the congestion leaving the park via monorail or boat back to transportation center is worse right after the 8pm Happily Ever After show or after the 8:45pm One Upon A Time show knowing park closes at 9pm to regular guests? Or does it not matter? Will stink either way?

So safer to stick it out until 9; will do! I was hoping that was the answer. On average with moderate to high crowds, how long does it take to get from MK back to Transportation Center? Just gauging bedtime for my 2 kiddos....as I am sure 1/2 the park is as well ;)

Eeeekkk!!!! Even though there is a ticketed event (Disney After Hours) at 9pm, as long as we are in a queue at 8:59, we can still ride it before we get kicked out of the park? Would rather wait in a ride line than a monorail or bus line!

I wish we could take aventage of it but it would probably wipe out 5 and 7 year old out too early into our trip! Otherwise totally would... they would probably only last until 10pm way later than normal only because they will still be on central time. $500 for 1 hour probably would be my smartest investment, ha!

Your question has been answered, but just wanted to point out that I assume you mean 2/15 above? 2/15 is a DAH night, not 2/16. Just wanted to make sure in case you have your dates mixed up. :-)

Have a great trip.

As others have said, foot traffic leaving after the fireworks will be insane.

I've visited MK countless times and have never seen a fireworks show for that exact reason

Leaving right after the fireworks is the worst. Try to stay in the park as late as you can, or watch the fireworks by the exit.

If you wait to watch OUAT at 8:45 and leave at 9, you'll still see a massive mob of people, but it won't be AS bad as the crowd leaving right after HEA

Unless my kids surprise me with sleep schedules, our plan for our upcoming trip is to *maybe* stay up late enough for HEA, but any later would be really pushing it. We have a choice between a night with park close at 10 and a night with park close at 8 (show is at 8 both nights, the late night is not EMH just a later general close). I was thinking it would be less chaotic exiting right after on the 10 pm close night because not everyone is leaving, but it sounds like it will be a mob scene either way?

Might have to ponder waiting until the kids can stay up later...

I'll give an opposing vote here. Yes, without a doubt right after fireworks is the busiest time to leave MK. It's a sea of people heading out. But I honestly don't think it's all that big of a deal. They do a really good job of moving people out. The line for ferry or monorail looks really long, but you'd be shocked how fast it goes. They have monorail after monorail lined up, and all 3 ferry boats running (and they can hold a TON of people). The longest wait we experienced was Xmas to New Years week, we waited about 20 minutes for the ferry. But during non-holidays, it's about 10 minutes wait for ferry...monorail could be longer but we usually just do ferry.

This is very true however if you are staying at one of the value resorts ( all stars) you will wait for fo the bus for quite a while ( 30-45 minutes) and if you do park at the TTC and something goes wrong with the boats of monorail that could be bad.

another thing you could do is if you are giving your lids spending money then let them pick something out that night after the fireworks you can say hey guys we are going to let you pick out something you can spend X amount of money on your item I would say we are going to wait just a few minutes for the crowds to leave then we are going to go shop for your special item. ( know some kids would be wide awake and some would not be. This should give you enough time to let the big crowds out.

We are staying at Shades of Green. That is a great suggestion! They let you stay in shops for an hour after close?

If you're up for it, the attraction lines are their shortest between fireworks and closing time. For example, we rode Space Mtn 4 times in 35 minutes at the end of the day on our last visit.

Also, always remember that IF the Express monorail platform is overflowing and the Resort Monorail platform is not...then take the Resort Monorail. The only difference is one stop at the Contemporary before reaching the TTC.

My sister & I stayed in the park for about 45 minutes after the fireworks, then headed out. No line for the ferry or monorails at that time.
