foods you used to love but can't find anymore

Quisp...but I think you can order that online somewhere...

I see this every now and again at Supertarget and one other local grocery chain. DH kept talking about it as a favorite childhood memory, so I bought a couple of boxes.

PurpleSouresRex Koolaid - I loved this in college!!! It was basically grape lemonade.

Chicken Tonight - Cacciatorie was my favorite, but I liked them all! (I feel like Chicken Tonight, like Chicken Tonight!)

And finally, DH's and my favorite dish, Garden Cheddar Tuna Helper!!! I would do anything to get that one back!

There was also some kind of microwave mac 'n' cheese I used to buy in college that--honest to God--was the best mac 'n' cheese I have ever had. I don't remember the brand or the name or anything, just that it was in a red & white package and that it RULED.

I remember it. It was made by Nalley.

I miss the deep-fried apple pies from McDonalds, sometimes the filling would be so boiling hot that you'd burn your tongue!

Check your KFC. All of ours have the fried apple pies.

I miss Pillsbury Apple Turnovers, which they still make but don't sell here, and, although it sounds gross, stroganoff flavored Rice-a-Roni. I don't like meat, but I love the stroganoff sauce and rice.

Didn't the Vitamin King cereal taste like Captain Crunch? Not that I miss it.

I liked Marathon bars too.

Does anyone remember the Keebler Iced Raisin bars? My grandma would always have a package of those. I couldn't find a picture.

I've decided that this is the scariest picture I've ever seen in my entire life... <shiver>

Of course 2 of mine are chocolate:

1. Wispas....made by Cadbury I used to be able to get them at British Food Import stores but not anymore. They must've stopped making them. :confused3

2. Ovaltine bars...yes brought to you by the same people who make the awful, nasty chocolate milk..but good grief I loved their candy bars. It was like the chocolate had been poured into a plastic mold and when you opened the bar, you flipped it out of the mold. It had kind of a crunchy texture too. I miss those things!

But then there's also

3. McDLT's....you know, keep the hot side hot and the cool side cool.

4. Pepperidge Farm used to make a cauliflower in cheese sauce wrapped in a puff pastry..YUMMY! Of course the nutritional value in the cauliflower was long gone, but you can't have everything.

this thread brought back some great memories.

i miss better cheddars, tato skins, the carnation breakfast bars and they had these crackers that were long, skinny, very cheddery and topped with sesame seeds.

i have seen screaming yellow zonkers here at our walmart.

What I miss not being able to find is unsalted nacho chips. I know of at least one brand that was in a box back in the 80s and early 90s, that weren't salted. All of them have mega salt now!:(

There was some kind of cereal they had when I was a kid in the early '90s. It had a robot on the box (the box was bluish green, if I remember correctly) and they were pillows of cereal that either had green filling, red filling, orange? filling, or no filling, and the box said that each puff was a surprise but we kids could always tell which was which because the tint of the filling would show through.

That's exactly what I was thinking of as I was reading through this thread! Don't remember what it was called, but I loved it too!

ETA: Oh my god, I've been tagged! Woo hoo!

I went to high school in the Netherlands, and there was the absolute best french fry place right off campus. They had the best curry ketchup in the whole world and I have never been able to find it here in the states. :(

Vacationing in Amsterdam, I became addicted to fries with garlic sauce, and have never been able to replicate the sauce anywhere here in the US.

My fave missing food is Nutter Butter Creme Patties (not the peanut-shaped cookies; these looked like a little row of wafer raviolis filled with peanut butter). I hear that they are still made, but no shops seem to carry them; netgrocer is the only place I have seen them on the order form.

Mars Bars-I know they are sold somewhere but not here in CT or not where I can find them.

My dad was wondering about those the other day and I told him that they are now called Snickers with Almonds. A couple of years ago M&M Mars repackaged them and changed the name to Snickers with Almonds.

I know I've seen several of the things listed here recently!

Hogfan - Ukrops sells Bugles
CVS sells Munchos
Dollar Tree sells Screaming Yellow Zonkers occasionally
I just saw the flavored Peanut Butter at WalMart

Why do I know the location of so much junk food? :rotfl:

There is one rice mix that DW Lauri LOVED so much that's been discontinued. She could eat just a bowl of the stuff for dinner and be happy. It was made by Lipton (you know, those pouches of rice and sauce mix that are usually about $1.50?) It was the Parmesan Chicken Rice Risotto mix. If I ever saw that stuff on the shelf I would buy the entire stock!

BBQ Sunflower seeds, or any flavor for that matter (Damn Australia.)

The original French Toast Crunch cereal. They remade it recently to be like Cinammon Toast Crunch and now it's not the same. it used to be like little slices of french toast! I miss that!

And I'm totally on board with the screaming yellow zonkers too :goodvibes

Better Cheddars, flat baked tortilla chips (I don't like the scoops), Wild for Mild Ole El Passo salsa. Also, I loved Space Food Sticks when I was a little girl and they're not made any more. Of course I might not like them if I tried them again.

Oh, and Ice Cube chocolates. They're hard to find, but I do see them every once in a while. YUM!

I love those too! The only place I can find them is at our hospital gift shop and that isn't a place I like to frequent very often!

Anyone remember Gellatin Bars by Jello? They were my absolute favorite. I think Bill Cosby did the commercials for them too. Boy do I wish they still made those!

Does anybody remember the "healthy" fast food chain called D'Lites? They used to have the BEST potato skins...nice and crispy.

Yep, I remember them! My grandmother used to take me and my brother there, but for the life of me I can't remember the food.

The things I miss are...

-Bar None candy bars

-Ice Teasers instant tea drinks. Came in a package like Crystal Light does now -- each container would make a 2-qt. pitcher of flavored tea. We lived off that stuff as kids and I remember it being soooo good!

-Healthy Choice Ice Cream -- this is gone???? That stuff was so good! Didn't taste like diet at all.

P.B. Max candy bars
Hardees Boss Burgers
Surge Soda (goes down well with the Boss Burger)
Fun Fruits/Fruit Wrinkles
The ORIGINAL pudding pops
