Foods that you refuse to purchase for your family

Nope, I give my daughter wine for far more than just two reasons, but you just keep on thinking that. Must bother you that there is not a thing you can do about it.

And you should probably just bow out too. Things starting to look ugly up in here.

On to the original question....I refuse to buy non name-brand peanut butter.

You really should just let it go. You're just making yourself upset and you are in no way going to have any influence over the poster. Best to just shake your head and move along.

I couldn't agree more...let it go people, she already said it was okay to do this in her state and she also said it is part of her culture. I understand not everyone agrees with this, but it is her life and her child, not yours.

I agree with others, Testify, what you are doing is tantamount to abuse....but it wasn't worth the aggravation.

I thought of another thing I won't buy....liver....yicky!!

DH also won't let us buy anything that lived in the sea. It's been a long time since i've had a good shrimp, crab or lobster dish!

Oh wow, I am not sure there is life without Lobster and Shrimp! :thumbsup2
:rotfl:

There are many forms of child abuse - some are worse than others, obviously. But what she is doing IS child abuse and I can guarantee you, if she let her daughter's pediatrician know what she was doing - they would alert the authorities. And mom would be heading to jail.

I am glad to see I am not the only one who thinks this though. For a while there, I was beginning to think everyone on here thought this was okay!
You name called when you called me a troll which is why your post was reported.

First off, we do not have a pediatrician

2. The authorities would not do a think about it, in my state I am perfectly within my rights to provide alcohol to my own child. So you just keep on there with your little guarantees when you don't know what you are talking about.

Grape juice does NOT have the same benefits as a glass of red wine.

Thank you for reeling me in......this is just so understandable to me.

Back to original question...."Sea Legs" or "fake crab meat" yuck!

Testifyoncruises~ I am the one who said I hope this isn't a "troll" post.

And I said I knew better than to feed the troll. Like I said, report away, if I get points for that, so be it. There are many trolls who post on here and lots of people call them out. I am not concerned with you reporting me - I actually find it laughable.

Here is just one of MANY articles you can find saying it is not the alcohol, but what is found in the grapes that have health benefits. I am sure you know too much to read it, but I will post one for you anyway.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/23/health/23real.html

And I will ignore your posts from now on, because it seems like you like to start controversy. You have been on the Dis for 5 days and one of your threads has already been locked.

Let your DD listen to NIN - a band whom I LOVE and just saw in concert - give her alcohol and dont bring her to the doctor. Your kid, your choice. I should have known better than to reply to this in the first place. But what you are doing, IS child abuse.

Nope, what I am doing is saving her life. Check out the many benefits of ***********.

It ain't ABUSE and is fact common in many parts of the world.

Now if you want to talk abuse, check out some of the foods in this thread that parents are feeding their children. That is real abuse. And I am not worried about my posts being ignored by the misinformed know-it-alls.

You are the one who is misinformed. And sadly, your daughter is on the receiving end of it.

We dont buy meat in our house, but that is because we are vegetarians! Everything else in moderation is fine - we try to stay away from most pre-made foods, but every once in a while, my husband wants a twinkie!

There are quite a few countries in southern Europe where giving wine to kids is quite common. However, I believe that the wine is normally significantly watered down and I don't think it's done on a daily basis.

I also think that it's a bit odd to bring food to a restaurant when you don't approve of what they offer. I personally wouldn't do so but just wouldn't go to an establishment that I didn't approve of.

Krab? I have a rule to never buy food that is misspelled or cheese that isn't cheese, but rather "cheese food".
