You mean that's not an acceptable thing to do?!
"Oh, he's taking a nap."
"Uh oh, it looks like she might feel sick! Let's go this way."
Kids, especially little kids, really aren't going to make a big deal out of something like this unless you make a big deal out of it first.
I've been to many weekend nights at F&W and have never encountered a situation that would be impossible to navigate with a child.
Totally agree. Although I will say that my husband and I (quite grown adults) have seen people "under the influence" of many kinds all over Disney World at many times throughout the year. We've seen people with too much to drink just before Illuminations in May (one group). My husband witnessed a same sex couple "enjoying themselves" while in front of him in a line. So, just because it's the Food and Wine Festival doesn't mean anything is going to be out of the ordinary.
But, that's not what the OP asked about - it's about the crowds. If you can, avoid Friday and Saturday nights, especially Saturday nights. As my husband said, "it's not even this crowded during Christmastime!". But, we could walk around but didn't get anything from the Festival booths since we had arrived that day and wanted to eat quickly. The regular counter service places are fine - we got food from Lotus Blossom in less than five minutes - and then just walked around and looked at everything else. If your kids really want a certain item and are willing to stand in line for it, then go for it. Each year, there are improvements on how to order to keep the lines moving so it's not like you will be spending an hour to get one plate of food. So, take your chances, take your kids and then they can decide what they want to do.
