Food & Wine festival

As others have said, avoid the weekends like the plague. IMHO Scotland had the best food! Beware that you can go through a LOT of money in a hurry.

This brings me to another tip. Use a gift card! They are faster, easier to the CMs, and can help you stick to a budget if you want to. I pre-load one just for F&W and when it is spent, it's spent. You can get the special F&W ones with the wristband things for super-easy access, but any Disney gift card will work fine.

@greigallen Thank you!

I am a bit disappointed that the jalapeño margarita isn't at the Mexican kiosk, but the prickly pear and pomegranate margaritas sound promising. :)

Honestly, if you go on a weekend and get there early (before noon) you're fine.

Our fav is the Fisherman's Pie at Ireland.

Based upon the menus I saw, it appears the Fisherman's Pie is gone.

You can still get the jalapeno at La Cava and with any luck the new Tacqueria will be open by then!

Yes but bangers and mash!!!!!!!!!!!

Meh--make sausage and taters all the time--now I don't go to the trouble of making a fish pie, ditto for a Shepherd's Pie, with great frequency. I will survive--there are a good many fishy dishes at F&W this year! :fish:

Thanks guys, going Sept. 2 - 16. Can't wait to stuff my face and silently judge the Scotland stand

I'll be there Sept. 5 - 10! Let's split a Scotland Tipsy Laird!

They have small Disney Gift Cards on a bracelet which you pre-load with $$ either by paying cash or by credit card. Just swipe these at the food kiosk, quick and you're not accumulating a pocket full of change. Also great for budget control. Our fav is the Fisherman's Pie at Ireland.

Where can you get the Disney cards?

seriously are there any offical DIS meet and greats at F&W? I will be alone with my mom and kids ( hubbie heads home early as he's had enough Disney).. at this point I can use an hour to break free!!

Where can you get the Disney cards?

I got mine at the Festival Center (old Wonders of Life pavilion). Loaded it up and it was super easy to pay at each booth. I did blow through my funds much faster than anticipated, though. Easy to refill the card, too. Plus, if you happen to have some money left on it, it's just like any other Disney gift card and you can use it all over WDW, not just at food & wine.

We're usually there a week during F&W. We have "dinner" every evening at Epcot by walking the World Showcase and noshing through the stands. I'll second, third, or whatever the suggestion to get the F&W gift card on the wristband. SO easy to use at the kiosks, and keep track of money spent/left. And it's a fun keepsake, especially if you attend in multiple years. If you're not traveling alone, I recommend splitting tastes (especially if you're unsure if you'll like something). It's a great way to try things out, and not get stuffed. You can always get more of the stuff you really like!

All these great tips made me think of questions.. Do the booths open up when World Showcase does or after (and if it's after then what time?)

And last time I was there was before magic bands were a thing.. Can you use that to pay or no?

Thanks!
