I'm in the market for a food processor. I've never had one but due to a lot of homecooking lately, I can justify the cost and time savings. I've researched them on cooks.com and amazon. I "think" I'm leaning toward KitchenAid's model 760 - the ultra wide mouth. Does anyone else have any pros or cons to this model or do you have any other recommendations?

I have a Cuisinart that I have still not opened. bad, bad, bad....I really need to get that sucker going.

Why do we need this?

We have a kitchenaid, don't remember the model. It has a large and a small bowl. It is very powerful and has many attachments.

We have the Cuisineart. Have had it 7 years. Probably use it 10x a year. Works great and handles heavy jobs.

I've got a Cuisinart too. It is awesome! I haven't found anything (even ice and bread dough) that it has trouble with

DH just got me a Kitchenaid for Christmas. Only used it a couple of times, but I love it!!

KFP740 - it's a 9 cup with a 4 cup mini bowl inside.

I'll have to go check out the wide mouth.

ETA: The only thing I don't like is that the lid doesn't fit on the dishwasher's top shelf. So, I've started putting it on the bottom shelf and letting the dishes air dry. Works for me.

Can I hijack this (sorta?) and ask what you guys use your food processors for? I got one when I got married last year, but haven't used it. I'm not even sure *how* to use it, or what I need to use it for!

Go with Cuisinart! I LOVE mine! My gf asked me why I bother to use one when we were preparing stuff for tacos. She refused to use it, saying she could do it quicker herself. I grated a pound of cheese, made salsa, and shredded lettuce in less time it took her to chop avocados and make the guacamole. It only takes me a minute or two to get it out, set it up and plug it in. I use it to shred meat for enchiladas, chop veggies, shred cheese, ect..

I made a cornbread stuffing to go with some pork chops. Used it to chop the shallots and celery. Works really well.

I also used it to make a fresh tomato salsa I put on fish.

Roma tomatos (seeded), cilantro, red and green pepper, red onion, and garlic. Pulse until chopped to desired consistency. I would put the tomatos in last next time tho because I like them chunkier.

Put in a pan with a little salt, fresh ground pepper, and lime juice. Heat thru to get the flavors combined and serve over fish. I also do this when I make fajitas as it's just easier than doing it all separate.

I also made a pesto in it. I have a thread over on the cooking board asking for ideas. I should go bump that for more.

:listen:

I want to buy one too, I have $50 in Kohl's gift certs I'd like to use!

Bought the Kitchen Aid you're talking about for my DIL and used it at her house recently. Didn't think it worked any better than the wide mouth Hamilton Beach I bought for myself...at much less money. Maybe? :confused3 in the long run the Kitchen Aid will prove to be longer lasting due to better quality, but I'm not even certain of that. Really love my Hamilton Beach!

I just received the Hamilton Beach Wide Mouth for Christmas. I have not used it yet but I like the fact that it also has the little suction cups on the bottom to keep it from moving around. I have an older Hamilton Beach (16 yrs old) that is still going strong but I lost several attachments so I cant use it to slice/shred, its a huge chopper now. I guess I could have bought the attachments but I wanted a wide mouth processor.
