ok, I have to share the story behind this one. Last fall we had dinner at Ohana on a Monday night. It just so happened that the New Orleans Saints were playing on Monday Night Football that evening. Because we are HUGE Saints fans (Yes, even though we live in Nebraska), my entire family was wearing Saints jerseys that evening.

We waited and were seated, when the head chef that evening (Keith, I think, my memory isn't as good as it used to be) came over and told us that Chef Kim (the head chef at Kona that evening) had seen us and came running over to Ohana to find out where we were sitting, and that he wanted to stop over and say "Hi" a little later. We said "ok". (Keith said he'd never seen Kim move that fast :) )

So we have dinner and Keith comes over to check on us a few times (It was kind of cool to get that sort of attention from the chef). Well, when it's time for dessert he says that he has a surprise, and he sets this plate on the table. Then he brings the regular Ohana dessert to the table (bread pudding in the background) too. Any way, just then Chef Kim from Kona comes over and talks to us for a while. Turns out he's from the New Orleans area and was excited to see fellow Saints fans all decked out in gear. So he had one of his chefs create a chocolate fluer de lis and surrounds it with a collection of desserts from Kona. We talked to him for a while and really enjoyed the desserts. Especially the Kona ones, as I'm the only one in my family that likes the bread pudding, so the others were excited to have a variety. It's DW's favorite, even though she doesn't like the dessert.

Anyway, it was really cool to experience that and to interact with the chefs at both Kona and Ohana. Had a great visit, both guys are great. Just one of those unexpected, "magical" moments.

This was the filet over some kind of croutons or something. I think they called it "mediterranean salad" or something like that. I remember I didn't care for it, but the steak was good:

Here's my daughter trying to decide between 2 of the desserts, a chocolate cake, and I think the other might have been Butterfinger cheesecake?:
