What about Disney Gift cards? Our plan is to buy them up over the next 8 months before our trip so it is like pre-paid dining. Are they accepted everywhere? We will have some cash but the gift cards were my main plan.
I go to WDW several times a year and this is what we've done the last several years. At first I just wanted everything paid for prior to the trip, so would get the
DDP, then use gift cards for the tips and any souvineers we might find. For my trip this past Sept and then again in Nov/Dec, instead of the DDP, I used the TiW card and just paid cash for all my meals. I figured what I'd probably spend, then added a little to it and then used the gift cards to pay for everything while I was down there (snacks, meals, gratuities, and any souvineers). Both times I had money left over on the gift cards to use for my next trip. I loved coming home with extra money and a zero balance on my cc.
For our trip in two weeks I'm doing the same thing, except we're using the DxDDP. I've got a couple of $300.00 gift cards to use for restaurant tips. I then have another $300.00 gift card to use for my 3 y/o grandson's souvineers. My husband needs another AP, so I also have a $500.00 and a $50.00 gift card and then will pay less than $10.00 cash to get his AP for the year. I seriously doubt if my GS spends $300.00 and I also know we won't be spending near $600.00 on restaurant gratuities, so hope to have enough left over on the gift cards to pay for the tips for my solo May trip.
Gift cards are accepted just about anywhere. In fact, the only places I've not been able to use them is when I ate at House of Blues this past Sept and then in Dec when I ate at the Garden Grove at the Swan/Dolphin. That's because they aren't Disney owned and I knew that going in. Otherwise I haven't really spent any cash at WDW in a couple of years. (I do leave prefilled cash envelopes for the housekeeper and have envelopes with small bills in them for DME drivers, the BAGS people, and bell services.) For everything else, I've used the gift cards.
