We're flying home from WDW late on Christmas Day. This is a cruise trip with a few non-park days (except for MVMCP) after. We have ADRs Christmas morning at Kona Cafe (staying at the Poly). We're planning to store our luggage when we check out and spend the day resort-hopping. I'm on the fence about whether to make a late afternoon ADR or just snack throughout the day. I know the GF has gingerbread snacks to purchase; any other special goodies at any of the resorts? Where would you go to munch on Christmas? Our kids are teens and we're (mostly) not picky eaters.

Tough one.

Just seeing the monorail resorts and wilderness lodge could be a full day. After a cruise and all the food, cs somewhere along the way could be enough if you are not tied to having a Christmas formal dinner. Enjoy!

Thanks, that's what I'm thinking. We're DVC members, so we've stayed at many of the resorts. We'll stop in to visit our favorites and maybe check out a couple we don't normally see. We will probably take the bus out to visit AKL as well. Tempted to eat at Boma (we love it), but I really don't want to pay that much. We have some other big meals during our stay, plus the meals on the cruise!

Maybe take the monorail over to the Comtemporary to see their Christmas display, and then eat at Contempo Cafe? That has a big menu so everyone should find something they like, then take the monorail to GF to see the gingerbread house, and buy a couple of those gingerbread shingles that they sell to munch on, on the way home.

Doesn’t sound like you’re planning on going offsite, but just in case you get the urge, don’t. Nothing is open nothing is ioenfrom around 2pm on xmas eve. Orlando has forgotten they are a tourist town and tourists don’t all have the same needs or beliefs as locals.

Yes we made a couple errors last December. :):) Mmm, Taco Bell on xmas eve. But even they were closing early.

Good to know! We won't have a car for that portion of our trip, so no worries there. We'll have a car for the pre-cruise portion, so we'll get our offsite food fix then!

When booking our flights, we were debating between an early flight home or the later flight. DH pointed out that if we took the early flight, we'd come home in Christmas and would either have to cook or find an open restaurant. We chose the later flight figuring we'd find better food options at WDW!

I'll check it out- thanks! Pretty sure we've never eaten at Contempo Cafe.

Make sure you allow enough to get back to Poly to get DME three hours before your flight.
Maybe start out your morning at GF with breakfast brunch at Park Fare. If you are still hungry after the tour, grab sushi while waiting for the bus at Poly.

IMHO the GF is thr most 'christmasy' resort in WDW, we eat at GFC on christmas eve and Narcoosee's on Christmas day. We love the decorations, the ambience and the food. How about trying Gasparilla Grill for QS at GF? You can sit outside and have a view of the castle.

how about Sanaa for a late lunch? it's one of the only ones that still have a lunch menu with less expensive options, and you could share some stuff too... share a bread service and a couple of potje inspired... imo plenty big to share if you also have the bread service. Watch the animals from the peace of inside a restaurant. Not as expensive or heavy as boma.

Our flight isn't until 8pm, so we have lots of time! We already have an ADR for Kona Cafe Christmas morning (macadamia pancakes & tonga toast). I've thought about changing that to a later time, but I know we'll all be up and ready to eat by then. Not sure we'll really want or need lunch, but we'll definitely need to eat something since we won't get onto the DME until 5pm!

Sounds lovely, thanks! We're eating at GFC the day we get off the ship before MVMCP, but a visit to the GF is always welcome! Have never eaten QS there. Any food in particular you recommend?

Will definitely consider that! We ate at Sanaa for dinner a few years ago and enjoyed it. Bread service and dessert sound good to me!

Unfortunately the last two December trips it's been under renovation so we've yet to get there ourselves but we've heard good things about it. I want to try the beef sandwich. It's open this year so hopefully we'll make it on a nice, warm evening so we can sit outside and enjoy the view.
