i've already posted something similar on the "disappearing peeps" thread, so please forgive me, guys!

does anyone know of a book or website where i can get a list of common foods and the calories/carbs/proteins/fats in each? i'm starting a food journal on saturday and i want to keep a list with me for easy reference. i looked at borders.com for a book, but didn't see anything.

thanks!

Hmmm not sure. I know WW has their point book, makes all that easier to figure out.

The USDA has an online Nutrient Database that has a complete breakdown of nutrients for most "whole" foods in a variety of preparations (raw, steamed, boiled, etc.). I've found it really useful in choosing fruits and vegetables. You can also put in exact weights, so for example you can determine exactly how many calories a 106-gram apple contains, rather than trying to figure out if it's a "large" apple or not.

The Database includes a few prepared/brand-name foods, but it's most useful for whole foods. Hope this helps!
