Food, Experience, Price

My traveling entourage includes my son, his best friend and his girlfriend (the 3 musketeers) all 21 and these are their favorites and why!

Raglan - they each requested it for their turning 21 dinners. Ambiance, entertainment, food, varied appetizer and entree choices and Ger’s Bread & Butter Pudding. We’ve gone for years, always a good meal and a fun experience.

Spice Road, they have seasoned palates, we (the parents) had enjoyed it many times before this, Aug was their 1st time. Nice view of the fire works, the cuisine, so well executed, they each said it was a treat to have eaten there.

Tepan Edo, with a huge group, is there anything more fun than complete interaction with the chef and your friends and family. Everything is fresh and tasty and it’s just a fun experience.

Biergarten, we love German food, oompapa music, and beer, what more can you say.

Sci-Fi, The food/pricing fits the venue. What Disney has done here, it’s given its patrons a piece of true Americana. It’s charming, quirky funny and serves good food. It’s a burger & onion ring joint and it’s good, if you’re expecting the Cali Grill, yes you’re in the wrong place. It’s dark, you’re sitting 2 by 2, enjoy the uniqueness of experience!

When you say super engaging, when we travel together, all that not only comes from the menu/venue but also from each of us as we talk and laugh and share fun times, here are a few restaurants that we’ve all enjoyed for various reasons:

Sanaa, good and interesting cuisine with a possible view of the animals(giraffes etc)
Jiko, excellent cuisine and excellent wine,$$$. Wine Bar George, good food (but limited family style menu) good wine! Marrakesh, cous-cous, kebabs, belly dancing, music, beautiful decor, we’ve always enjoyed it. Rose & Crown, possible best view of the fire works, good beer and food, we’ve been many times. Tiffin’s, new to them this year, expensive but we all really loved the food and the atmosphere.

On the horizon as requested by the kids, Frontera Cuicina from Rick Bayless, in October!

Good luck!

Sounds like Skipper Canteen might be a good one for you?

I agree. This one is my DD's family favorite.

I recommend Sanaa at AKL Kidani Village.

This one as well scored high marks for food, service and atmosphere.

I like Il Mulino a lot. I also like San Angel Inn. I thnk it is a very DIsney atmosphere and my food and service have been very good. I think it is reasonably priced as well, well for Disney.

For great food in a unique atmosphere, I recommend:
Sanaa
Skipper Canteen
Spice Road Table (depending on time of year, since it is covered but open air)

It was 2-3 years ago. We had been to RR since their soft opening. We loved it and it was a “ must do” every year.
We all did not like our entrees. The potatoes in adult DS Not Your Bleeding Chowder were hard-and not cooked. My Serious Sirloin was tough, fatty and not cooked well. I don’t remember DH dinner but he didn’t like it. Our table was not comfortable. Our service was not good. It was the very worst band we had seen in many trips. No more.
See, I just generally don't understand this - not attacking you or trying to get you to change your mind, just curious.

How many positive visits did you have, compared to the one negative? I was reading the Trip Advisor reviews - 85% 4-5 stars - and a surprising number of diners were upset because they had to wait to be seated; or my favorite, they booked six months in advance but didn't have a table which reflected that. Anyway, some of those reviewers had good prior experinces, but one negative and poof! it's off the radar.

We are looking for something interesting food-wise. Something that has good food, maybe even great, food that is affordable for four adults. We have a couple of non-park days so can hit up Springs or another resort - but we also have some park days.

If we had the open time I'd eat every major meal at Disney Springs.

Since we usually don't ... with your good eats and affordable ..
- Epcot, Marrakesh or Spice Road
- DHS, consider HBD LOUNGE
- AKL, if you want an additional to Canteen, Yak & Yeti TS or Nomad Lounge
- MK, honestly don't think there is anything great for the money

Good point and Valid Question. I probably would have asked the same question of others. We didn’t think of it that way at all. We probably had 6-8 good visits before this horrible one. We also felt that night that quality , and in general enjoyment factor had been slipping with each prior visit for awhile
That said, it was so bad and there are now so many new, good restaurants is DS we have decided to move on. For us, at this point - this is what we will do. Maybe we will try RR again in the future.
