Howdy,

I am a diabetic AND recent gastric bypass surgery patient. Sugar is highly restricted for me. Is there a place to get not sugar added or sugar free treats?

Because of the gastric bypass I need to bring snacks as I can only eat a little at a time. They should be high in protein-nuts, cheese sticks, etc. Do they sell individual servings of any of these items in the parks?

Thanks for the info!

Not that I have seen, I know they sell nuts at MK but they are the sugared kind, not the plain roasted. I would stick some snacks in a backpack to be on the safe side

There is no problem with you bringing snacks that you need into the parks. No alcohol or items in glass jars, I believe are the criteria.

I'm a gastric bypass patient (19 months Post-op) too and just bring my own high protein snacks with me. Protein bars, nuts, cheesesticks (they don't need to be refridgerated) I also bring my own water bottles and crystal light to go packs. You can get free cups of ice and pour your crystal light in it. I actually prefer making up a insulated water bottle with the strap to carry around. As for food, other than what I bring with me, I stick with salads, grilled meats (Take the top bun off of my hamburgers. I don't get sick off sugar, which is a shame but I still try to avoid it. Epcot has good restaurants for healthier eating, MK not much and MGM the worst for healthy food. Go to allears.net for menus of the restaurants. It may help you find what you need.

They will allow you to bring in your own snacks if you want. If you don't want to carry them around all day, you can rent a locker and store them and drinks till you need them. Just don't bring in big coolers or you will probably be sent back by the bag checking people.

You can bring snacks and drinks in with you but you might want to check on the Restaurants board to find out if any places carry the items you need if you don't want to pack them. The disablities board might have some answers on the diabetic items in particular.

Besides bringing your own food I would suggest planning your dining ahead and according to the allearnet.com menu list if you let the restaurant know in advance of special dietary requirements they will accommodate you.

Thanks to all who replied. I wasn't sure I would be allowed to bring my own water and food items. I feel alot better now and can't wait for April 8th to get here!

Many of the restaurants and even the carts in the parks offer sugar-free desserts and ice creams.

This is terrific news! I want to be able to enjoy a treat with the family instead of sipping water.
