Tell me about the food courts at the various value and moderate resorts?

I have prviously stayed at CSR, so you can use their food court as a referrence.

What I particularly want to know is....

Do they have food "stations" or one big line?
IE- if I want pasta and the kids want hamburgers can we order at the same spot/time or will it require standing in two seperate lines?

Do you pay before or after you eat?

I know at POP there are different stations.

At each station they have several things, so depending on what you and the kids get you could be in one line or in 2 seperate lines.

Like the chicken alfredo station has a meatball sub and pizza. The station next to it has a burger, hot dog and fries.
So if the family wants a pizza and a burger then you have to stand in 2 seperate lines.

Then you take your items to the cashier and pay for them. Then eat.

POP has a huge food court. There is at least 5 stations, including an ice cream station. Each station has multiple items to choose from.

Sorry can't speak for the other values but I hear that the Allstars are pretty much set up the same way.

I have only stayed at 2 different resorts in my 3 visits to the World, CSR and Pop. Pop's food court is set up in stations. Pizza at one place, burgers at another etc etc. I actually find it much more organized at Pop than CSR w/ lines and what not. I did like that the food at Pepper Market was made to order though. And yes, at the values you do pay before eating. You get in line and order your food and then go and get your drinks and such. Then you get in line to pay. I hope this helps.

We stayed at POFQ in December - there are different stations so you may need to queue separately. It is the same at POR.

I stayed at ASp, POFQ, and CS. To my knowledge, they all had "stations" where you could get in a small line to place your order. You would wait for it to come up and then put it on your tray and get in another line or go pay. At AKL last June, we ate at Mara and it was similar, but you could order your food and then they would give you a buzzer for your food. You pay and then when your buzzer went off, you'd go trade the buzzer for the food. And to clarify, the "buzzer" was typical of what you'd get at a restaurant when you're waiting for a table. It flashes and vibrates when ready.

Thanks everyone for your input. We are debating where to stay for our next trip. DH was not found on the unorganization of CSR Pepper Market. However I am afraid that at some of the other places, by the time we stand in 2 or 3 different lines to get food, stand in another to pay, find a table...my food will be cold

I did like that the food at Pepper Market was made to order though.

Is the food pre made and sitting under warming lights at the other resorts? Is the made to order specific to CSR only?

Pepper Market is the only food court that you pay after eating, and has a waiter for drinks. I don't like it that much. The other moderates and values have food courts where you get your food from various stations and pay on your way to a table. We usually can get our food by splitting up, and getting meals at two different stations. There's usually about 4 stations 1 being bakery type stuff. You get your drinks after you leave the cashier. Sometimes the food is ready to go under lights, I sometimes ask for what I see sitting there rather than wait. Things move quick, most of the time. If you can manage, the 1st person done can hand off the food, and find a table, while the other finishes, and pays. The deluxe resorts are more like a QS restaurant.
