Hi Everyone! New to the boards. My question is my DW and I are planning to go to Alfredo's on our upcoming trip and I noticed one of the choices on the menu was a fettucini with a spicy vodka sauce. Has anyone had this? What did you think? Was it really spicy? Just want someone else's opinion. Thanks!
Only 11 days until our Magical Vacation! :cheer2:

:dancer: Okay so if anyone has not eaten this, What Have you eaten there that is fantastic. Appetizers, entrees, desserts etc. We have had the regular fettucine before and trying to decide whether or not to try something different.

Thanks :earsboy: :earsgirl:

We've found that a late lunch there is the best time to go. The busy lunch hours and the dinner hours are always crowded and I think the food get rushed and the service is terrible.

We loved the chicken parmigiana, the calamari appetizer and the Italian margarita. All were yummy! If you want something lighter, the caesar with shrimp is great too, but most people look at me like I have two heads when I say I got a salad (but I eat a whole plate of the calamari by myself, so I need to balance it!).

Enoy!

More Alfredo reviews please!! This is the one restaurant I won't have to drag BF to on our trip!!

Not very spicy, but the vodka, wow, was my wife drunk when we left.... :confused3

Last time we were there we shared the Antipasto All'Italiana appetizer (a rustic assortment of Italy's finest imported cheeses and sliced meats, including prosciutto, bresaola, mortadella and soppressata), which was fantastic. Excellent quality meat and cheeses. It's only on the dinner menu at allearsnet, but we had it at lunchtime.

For main we both had the Le Originali Fettuccine all'Alfredo. I always mean to try something else, but can't resist this. I think it's one of the best pasta dishes i've ever had. Amazing considering how simple the recipe is. It's the quality of the ingredients that they use that make it so special I think.

I've had the Calamari before too, which was very good, but huge, definately one to share.

Whenever we go at lunch we usually sit outside, and the service has always been superb. It never seems that busy, probably because it's right at the back of the square.

After eating at Alfredo's multiple times i can't suggest enough that you schedule a late lunch or VERY early dinner. Every time we've gone there for a late dinner we've had horrible service and food that seemed as if it'd been prepared hours before. Yet in contrast every time we've decided to stop in for a late lunch the restaurant has been one of our favorites.

Definetly don't miss the antipasto, its wonderful :)

We also had the Antipasto All'Italiana appetizer. DELICIOUS!!! Chicken Parm is GREAT as well as the Le Originali Fettuccine al'Alfredo! I agree with the late lunch, we had PS for 2:30 and it was PERFECT!!! Not too crowded, very attentive waiter (pretty cute, too!!) My teenage dd's had smiles on their faces!!

kakjoe: No room whatsoever for dessert!! ;)

Some people complain about this place, but we have had good meals here. Not one of our very favorites, but tasty all the same. The desserts are lovely. We also go at lunch when it is less crowded. We like Alfredo's better than Mama Melrose's where we had just a so-so meal and won't hurry back.

I had the Le Originali Fettuccine all'Alfredo - Our world famous creation - homemade egg noodles tossed in a special butter and parmigian cheese $15.50. I think its just me because I've had it before but found nothing special with it. The guy next to me had a wonderful looking:

Ossobuco di Maiale in Gremolata - slow roasted pork shank in a sauce of demiglace, porcini mushroom, barbera wine, tomato and gremolata served with rosemary roasted potatoes and vegetables in season $22.95

My father had made this at home the week before my trip so I did not order it. I definitely would next time. The meat fell easily off the bone and the guy said it was great. It smelled great too. I'm getting so hungry just thinking about it.

Hi,

I had this exact meal a few weeks ago. It was good, but nothing spectaular. Had smallish shrimp and was not spicy at all (I'm a spice lover, so I might be immune to it though). The sauce reminded me of a light cream based tomato sauce.

I've eaten at Alfredo's a few times and I've never had a bad meal. That being said, I've had far better Italian elsewhere.

Unfortunately, we've experienced uneven food quality and service levels here over the years to justify paying the high prices. Our entrees can be wonderful and then again they can be lukewarm, bland, and pastey. Almost as if the dish was prepared hours prior and dished up and nuked before being brought out. The wait staff can be attentive and another time almost vacant to the point of wondering if they forgot about us. And the side dining room has no ambiance whatsoever. we've found Mama Melrose in MGM as a replacement. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

We will be putting Alfredo's to the test in November. We have wonderful neighborhood Italian food in New England so this sets a very high standard. Being half Sicilian makes it interesting too! ;)

I like the idea of an early dinner. I promise to post after our Thanksgiving week stay!

Kakjoe, we'll be looking for your reviews after your fabulous trip!

The Gnocci with meat sauce is outrageous. NYC's Little Italy has nothing over Alfredo's Gnocci.

Yummy!!! :sunny:

'Fredo's fans since Epcot opened, we have only tried the the fettucine and lasagne and love them both. :)

Alert to Pennyplanner: Your family background with Italian cuisine and high expectations will surely lead to a disappointing experience at Alfredo's. Although we love 'Fredo's, your highly developed preferences will lead only to disappointment. I've seem it too many times on these boards :)

We've only been once and it was unimpressive. I make better Fettucine Alfredo at home. It was ok, but that's it. I think that the raves about the antipasto will have us trying it. We try to watch our carbs, so sharing this could work well as a small meal. Plus, eating outside can be very pleasant. It is a beautiful restaurant and setting, but we couldn't recommend the Fettucine. Other dishes may be better, sounds like the antipasto is! Enjoy!

Thanks for your alert Micca!

It's not so much that we have a high standard for Alfredo's, it is just that we have really wonderful Italian food available to us at home and for dining out.

One of my DSs REALLY loves pasta, so in deference to him, we will be trying Alfredo's. Oddly enough, my other DS requested a return to Hollywood and Vine because he loved the soft serve ice cream machine for dessert. We are NOT buffet fans but that particular buffet dinner was a surprise hit so you never know! :goodvibes

Thanks,

We went aug 04' and service was terrible, food was so so, we had the 3 or 4 different pasta dishes. Thought we would give it another try march 05' and it was worse. The service (and that was a loose term) consisted of him taking order and walking straight out of the kitchen with the plate immediately? No bread? We asked for the bread, finally brought it, said to use the oil on table, I really don't like that, asked for butter, said they didn't have any, use the oil, asked to speak to the manager for the butter. The food was ice cold, the dinners must of been maid and sitting on counter waiting for someone to order these dishes. totally had it, we asked for the check, and now he is starting to worry about his tip? starts to ask if my glass of pop that has been empty forever, needs a refill? The spegetti dish tasted truely like chef boyarde' sauce, and I am not joking. I could of bought the can myself and even heated it up better. That's it we aren't going back. Try Mama melroses' we had excellent service and great chicken caccatore'!
