Food Allergies

Hey. One of my wedding guests will be bringing her two children, both have serious nut allergies. Can Disney cater for this? Anyone had any experience with this situation? I want everyone to have a lovely time and I'd feel terrible if my friend and her kids had to spend the whole day worrying about allergic reactions. I'm wondering if a buffet might be the best way to go. Any thoughts? As always, thanks for your help and advice!

Let your wedding planner know that you have two guests with severe nut allergies. Disney is very accommodating when it comes to allergies, I'm sure they'll figure something out.

while we don't have anyone with allergies, we do have two vegetarians and they are extremely accommodating. They will make special meals for them and anyone with allergies. In fact, they asked me several times to let them know about any allergies so they seemed very on top of it.

On another note, we have an airline chicken dish as one of our choices and I mentioned that my father did not like chicken with bones in it. As soon as I said that they were already noting to make sure his piece was boneless. I was like, we don't even know if that's what he's getting and if he does, he can just eat around the tiny bone. So that just shows how accommodating the kitchen really is.

I'm sure with something as serious as a nut allergy they will take even more precautions. I would also recommend that your friend call the special dining line so that for her ADR's they are prepared too.

Disney takes food allergies EXTREMELY seriously. I had 4 guests with 4 different food allergies and 1 vegetarian. For starters, (once you let you planner know and they let the Chef know) the allergies will be listed on EVERY page of your BEO. Seriously, they will be. We had 2 nut allergies,1 mushroom allergy, 1 wheat/gluten allergy, 1 dairy allergy. I had a plated reception & they had the name of what guest had what allergy in the kitchen as an extra precaution. Nothing we served had nuts or mushrooms and they created modified plates for our dairy and wheat/gluten allergic guests. (for instance- the wheat/gluten still had the proteins she wanted, filet and lobster, but they replaced the starch)

For our rehearsal dinner and farewell brunch, which were both buffets, we basically avoided nuts and had plenty of offerings for our guests with the other allergies. You kinda have to do the best you can to accomadate the most people.


So, I think the easiest thing for you to do, plated or buffet, is to not serve the allergen if possible. If that is not possible know that disney will prepare their meal seperately from everything else. (Believe me, I've been through years of this at Disney with my brother. The chefs even cook his pasta in seperate water! He wouldn't eat the food at his own wedding out of fear of cross-contaimination, but he knew he had nothing to worry about at Disney!)

Kelly is right, Disney takes those things very seriously. Make sure the names of your guests and their food allergies are noted on your BEO. One of my guests is deathly allergic to tomatoes and she received a plated meal at the rehearsal dinner buffet (it was the Lady & the Tramp Italian buffet) and one of the chefs spoke to her at the reception to make sure she knew what did and didn't have tomatoes on the Gaston buffet.

I am allergic to nuts and Disney has always taken everything serious. When I make an ADR I post that I have a nut allergy. Normally the chef will come out and talk to me personally about the food. Knowing the chef is aware and actually comes out to talk to me makes me feel very comfortable that they are going to take care in preparation of my meals.

Just make sure you let your wedding planner know. Also make sure that if their mom makes any ADR to post the allergies and talk to waiters about it at each restaurant.
