Does anyone have a cheese fondue recipe to share? My family just decided to fondue for Christmas Eve dinner; gotta love these last minute decisions. :thumbsup2

If anyone has anything to offer, I'd be forever grateful. Thanks in advance! :santa:

It's not real fancy in our house, just stop at the store and get the ends of the cheese at the deli, then melt with a little wine to thin it out. Then the dipping starts. Bread cubes, meat (again try the ends from the deli) veggies and just about anything you can think of. Usually some shrimp from the ring will find it's way over there also. Now the chocolate fondue that's a real blast. Love chocolate covered marshmellows.

Beer-cheese Fondue (I suppose you could leave the beer out if you wanted.)
2 c. shredded swiss
2 c shredded mild cheddar
1 T cornstarch
1/2 t. dry mustard
1 t Worcestershire sauce
tabasco to taste
2/3 c. beer

Mix cheese, cornstarch and mustard. Add worcestershire and tabasco. Place beer and cheese mixture in crockpot to heat. (I've used the mini crock pot for this before, if I remember correctly.)

I love fondue. Have fun!

I use this one. Our children eat it too -the beer taste is not strong and they do not seem to get a buzz or anything.
We use granny smith apples, french bread cubes, lightly steamed broccoli, lightly cooked whole mushrooms for dipping
I don't usually add the hot sauce

Ingredients:
1 small clove garlic, halved
3/4 cup beer
8 ounces process Swiss cheese, shredded (2 cups)
4 ounces sharp natural Cheddar cheese, shredded (1 cup)
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Dash bottled hot pepper sauce
Directions:
Rub inside of heavy saucepan with cut surface of garlic; discard garlic. Add beer and heat slowly. Coat cheeses with flour. Gradually add to beer, stirring constantly, till mixture is thickened and bubbly. (Do not allow mixture to become too hot.) Stir in hot pepper sauce.
Transfer to fondue pot; place over fondue burner. Spear dipper with fondue fork; dip into fondue, swirling to coat. (If mixture becomes too thick, stir in a little additional warmed beer.)
Use pieces of French bread for dipping.

Makes 4 to 6 servings.

I think Rose and Mike and I were posting at the same time! Great minds think alike:)
