I've just been watching the show on the Wonderful World of Disney about Walt's life and I got to thinking about how I've grown up with Disney and how it has affected my life. I can remember of course as a child watching every Sunday evening and especially loving the shows where they showed Disneyland or WDW. The best thing was getting to visit for the first time when I was 13. We stayed in one of the hotels now located in the Disney village and I thought we were rich! I clearly remember though wanting to stay at the Contemporary as I thought it was so cool. (I later accomplished this in 1996 with my hubby and 2 dear daughters).

What are your fondest memories of Disney?

I remember looking at an old National Geographic article (1963, if I recall) about Disneyland when I was young, and that sparked a life-long interest in Disney and especially the theme parks. I just poured over that magazine again and again. I was so excited to finally visit Disneyland when I was 11 and see that it really was just like the article. It was indescribable!

My first trip to WDW was a few years later, and I remember thinking the Contemporary was just so cool, but the tropical atmosphere and lights at the Polynesian really got to me, and I knew I wanted to stay RIGHT THERE. Like PoohBWV, although I waited more than 25 years, I had a chance to live the dream. During our trip last November we spent 8 nights at the Polynesian with DS (7) and DD (4). This was one case where the reality exceeded my dream in every way.

My fondest memory will now always be held very dear to my heart. It was last Friday, with all the terrorist acts and the threat of hurricane Gabrielle hanging over our heads, Disney's AKL went out of their way to bring back the Magic. I can still see my dd playing Twister with Timon and King Louie and my ds playing Trouble with Chip & Dale. These characters were out all afternoon from about 1:00 pm till at least 4:30 pm when we left the hotel. They entertained not only the kids but the adults too. They helped us put aside our worries for a few hours.

I have only been to Walt Disney World once, plus Disneyland once (when I was 4) When I was about 14, my Mom thought about taking a trip to WDW and ordered a video, I instantly fell in love with the Contemporary, I thought it was so cool. We didn't end up going then, I didn't go until I planned the trip myself, at the age of 22. I couldn't afford to stay at the Contemporary, which was very upsetting, so we booked CBR, but one day, I got a phone call asking if we would mind being upgraded to the Contemporary, this thrilled me, esprecially when I realized we would be getting a tower room. The day we arrived at WDW saw the Contemp., the lobby, the food 'n fun center, the room, and the beautiful view of Magic Kingdom was magical.
