New MagicBand+ Activity with Free Souvenir Tickets at Disneyland Park for 70th Anniversary

View attachment 971105

A new activity involving MagicBand+ has debuted at Disneyland Park as part of the many new offerings for the beginning of the 70th anniversary celebrations.

The new activity is described by Disney as:

The list of locations includes:

  • Tilly’s Booth at Main Street Cinema
  • Frontierland Booth at Silver Spur Supplies (celebrating The Golden Horseshoe, the Mark Twain Riverboat, and the Disneyland Railroad)
  • Fantasyland Window by Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (celebrating the Snow White attraction, Mad Tea Party, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Peter Pan’s Flight, and King Arthur Carrousel)
  • Skipper Lockers at Jungle Cruise in Adventureland
The Disneyland Website also lists Autopia in Tomorrowland, but notes that this station is not finished yet and will be “coming soon.”

For this activity, guests only need to have a functioning MagicBand+. When guests arrive at the touchpoint locations, tapping a MagicBand+ to one of the “Disneyland 70” readers will cause some special effects and sounds to activate. The guest is also able to receive a special art card or souvenir ticket that is automatically dispensed when the touchpoint is activated. All of the touchpoints are themed to opening day attractions at Disneyland.

One important note is that the text on the ticket can change. For guests with a Magic Key linked to their MagicBand+, the ticket that comes out of each location will be addressed to “Valued Magic Key Holder.” For guests without a Magic Key and just a standard park ticket, the tickets will be addressed to “Our Special 70th Anniversary Guest.”

During the test run, there was no limit on how many souvenir tickets you could get, but it has been limited to one ticket per touchpoint per MagicBand+ per day.

Question, does your Magicband work in both WDW and DL? Never thought about it until today.

Question, does your Magicband work in both WDW and DL? Never thought about it until today.
It works to allow you to tap into the parks and onto LL. It can be used with PhotoPass photographers and there are a few MB+ interactive locations throughout the parks. It does not allow you to open your hotel room door, to charge items to your account, or to automatically detect attraction photos. For the attraction photos, you need take a picture of your photo after you exit the ride and enter the code into the Disneyland app.

Anyone know whether a used one would function the same in-park? People sell them on eBay for half the price without the pin
Define "function" and define "used." If someone just removed the pin but didn't go to the stations, I believe you could still do the scavenger hunt.

This video at 6:30 shows what you can do with a key that has been activated at all stations.

Hm. Want to do the hunt but don't care about the pin (don't collect them). Maybe when we're there the week after the July 4th holiday there will be some in stock. Thanks!
