FoF parade at the ropes

I've read for the parades, it's best to be at the ropes for possible "character interaction" but I've been reading that the FoF floats are very high. Does this mean that there's not much interaction at the street? If the main characters are on the floats then I don't see the need to be right up to the ropes and actually, it's probably better to be back a little. I was debating on getting a FP for the parade but if we don't need to be front and center, I'll use it for something else (we have kids 8,6 & 4). Is any spot along the route a good one and does anyone have any good area's that have the least "set up and wait" time?? TIA!

The FP+ section for the parade is a fantastic one, (right in front of the castle) and the great thing is you can show up shortly before the parade and have a great spot. I've also sat and held a spot (near Liberty Tree Tavern) and have had to wait up to 2 hours to hold my spot (that was premiere day) and at least an hour before on other weekend days, but the viewing spot there in Liberty Square is good and not *as* crowded as around the castle and main street. The FP+ spot is a bit further down the parade route so you have to wait a bit longer for it to get down there since it starts by Splash Mountain but it's well worth it. The main characters are up on the big floats, but they aren't so high they can't interact with kids (by waving and such) Ariel (who is quite high up) even told my daughter she loved her dress from way up in her clam shell. They are close enough to connect and make eye contact with kids and mouth words to them. There are some characters (some parade dancers in elaborate costumes that work the ropes) but most of the characters that walk and work the lines are towards the back of the parade (and they are Snow White and the dwarves, White Rabbit and Alice, Chip and Dale, Goofy) The parade floats are big and high and it helps if you aren't on the ropes to still see things, but being close is still an advantage and if your kids like parades, I would highly recommend the FP+ for it. (Just get there a smidge before the time they tell you to secure the best spot within the reserved section. :thumbsup2 )
