Foam Sword in Carry-On?

My sister bought an umbrella that looks like a katana at Mitsukoshi in Epcot, and I wasn't sure if it would be a problem on the plane, wouldn't fit in checked bags. I checked with a TSA person before we got in the security line and they shrugged and said it was no problem, kind of looked at me funny for even asking. I'm sure it could have gotten pulled out for a closer look still, but it wasn't, and no issues there. I can't see a foam board prop being a problem.

Of course it's a "replica" of an imaginary thing. That makes it all the more dangerous . All you can count on a airport security is inconstancy.

Foam board is thicker and denser than a sheet of paper. It could show on the X-ray, lead to a search and questions from the screener. The moment OP says the word sword, watch out.
Yes, I mentioned earlier in the thread what it was. I'm using it for one of my husband's accessories this year. Still doubting that it shows on an X-ray, but it is easily explainable if it does. It is not harmful in the least. At least paper can cut you. Foam board is harmless. Lol
