I hope this posts helps with people thinking about flying with your own powerchair or ECV

Believe me I know how scary this can be, and to top it off this was my very first flight ever. I think I was more worried about my chair than anything.

The first thing I did was go to the airport a few weeks before I flew and talked to employees from SWA. I just wanted to know everything that was going to happen. When I first seen the aisle chair that would take me from the door of the plane to my seat I was a little freaked out. I mean how was I gonna get my 6'7" 300 pound body on that? Don't worry it can be done.

Before my flight I had the ramp manager come up and talk to me about my chair. Showed him everything, made sure he was the one going to be loading my chair. He assured me everything would be fine.

If you have a removable joy stick, take it with you. If you are worried about anything else on your chair or ECV take it with you.

I always have great service when I fly with SWA and will fly with no one else unless absolutely necessary. They treat you right and are very careful with your chair.

One thing that may calm the nerves is if they break it they pay for getting it reparied and make sure you have a replacement that they also will pay for.

Keep in mind things happen, you just have to roll with it. In the long run they will make it right.

I hope this helps
