I am planning on bringing my dd's pins to WDW when we go this weekend.. however, i am nervous about checking them in the suitcase - what if they lose our luggage? :guilty: But, i wasn't sure if we would have a hard time trying to carry these on? I believe i carried them on last november, but i know it is different year to year...... :confused3 I just don't want her to lose them either way.

I have been given a hard time occasionally. They typically screen them by hand and I had one TSA agent advise me that I should put them in checked baggage just to avoid any hassles.

A few trips ago my collection grew big enough that it wasn't practical to take the whole thing with me, so I bought one of those mini backpack pin holders. I go through my collection before each trip and select a few dozen pins to take that I may want to wear in the parks, and leave the rest at home. I then pack that in my checked luggage. Since we have a direct flight, I don't worry too much about losing it, but if that were to happen, I'm not losing ALL my pins.

We checked them on our last trip and everything was fine! One less thing to worry about carrying on--especially since my carry ons are always full of snacks, books, and Leapster cartridges to keep DS entertained.

At 8 to 10 dollars a pin carrring 20 to 40 pins no way are they going into checked luggage.

We have never had a problem with them.

I did notice some Disney luggage tags on E-bay .The seller was from Cali and had 3 auctions up with 2 -4 tags each stating he found them at the airport. Now this could be true but fishy at best .Same thing with some pins I've seen on E-bay just not a good feeling.

The TSA website says you can take knitting needles on-board. Those tiny little pins could hardly be used as weapons. They're allowed inside airliner cabins.

Thanks everyone! I am only taking about 12 pins, i just bought some on ebay for my dd to trade with, she is leaving her good ones home... This way i am not as concerned if she loses them or whatever. I am going to try to put them in my carry on and see what happens. Since i am not sure exactly what time our luggage will show up in our room (We are using the M.E. LOL) and if there is any hold up with the luggage, at least she can hit the ground and start trading!

Don't ever put anything in your luggage that is valuable if you ever want to see it again.
