Not sure if this is off topic...:confused3

We are flying from DC to Disney, and will be there for 8 days, I was thinking about packing an extra checked suitcase full of bottled water, granola bars, snacks, etc. for the hotel so that we have stuff to munch on when we get to Disney and won't have to buy all of that stuff at the resort and in the parks. Has anyone done this before, or is there a better way of doing this? Any thoughts? :upsidedow

For our May trip, I ordered from gardengrocer.com and was very pleased! They delivered the food to our resort--it was waiting for us when we got there. We stayed at WL and they refrigerated the cold things for us till we got there. We had breakfast bars, juice, milk, wine, fresh fruit, yogurt, case of water, etc. All I took from home was snacks for the Princess granddaughter enroute, my coffee and coffee filters, and a box of crackers and cheese for all of us in case of some unforeseen delay. Much easier than dragging the extra suitcase!

That's a fantastic idea, I hadn't even thought about! Did you have to give them specifics about what room you would be staying in, or alert the resort that you would be receiving a package? I assume that you just had it delivered for the day that you arrived? I'll be sure to check it out! Thanks so much!!! :yay:

another option, esp if you are a staples reward card holder (and it's easy to be one, it's free to apply online) is to order your case or two of water from them and have it delivered (for free) and pack the snacks, 'cause then the room that the snacks took up on the way to disney is souvie space for the way home :)

I placed an order with wegoshop . com. Just go online and order your groceries - they shop for you and then deliver to you at your resort. We made arrangements to pay by cc'd so the order was left with bell services the day we checked in. I also ordered a case of water from staples as mentioned above with my card at a great price and free delivery.

We took ME from the airport and were checked in at POFQ in just over an hour after arrival at mco. Hit the pool for a swim and lunch and when we got back to the room our bags, groceries and water were in the room.

We ordered our water from Staples last Nov. and got free shipping, but it's my understanding that they now only offer free shipping on orders of $50 or more. Guess I'll have to start orderinging my printer ink with my water. Anyone hazard a guess as to how the ink will fare in the checked luggage?

I was even thinking of making up some meals & getting one of those vacuum sealers, freezing them, and then taking them in a cooler w/ a few ice packs. I figure being vacuum sealed, even if they thaw to refridge. temp they should stay good for the rest of the week. The food courts of the Movies & POR both had microwaves last time we stayed, so we can just run down & nuke a tasty meal. Does that sound absolutely insane? We are a family of 7 and I just can't pay resort prices for food at every meal.

Last trip, we took mac&cheese and Ramen noodles and used the microwave in the foodcourt of the hotel. The kids loved it, but to this day, hubby gets queasy at the sight of ramen noodles...

Nope...it doesn't sound insane at all!!! We did get the dining plan, we are staying at Coronado Springs, so we have a fridge too...but I was hoping that there would be a microwave somewhere in the resort (but of course, the travel agent says there isn't!) for some late night nuking...what would be insane is us hoping on the shuttle to come to Movies or POR and using your microwave :rotfl2:

Well, the resorts have a no pool-hopping policy, but as far as I can see they don't have any no-microwave hopping policies in effect!

The last time I went to Disney I packed a large rolling suitcase on wheels and stuffed it with water bottles, individual packets of crystal light to flavor the bottled water, cheese & crackers, granola bars, cookies, muffins, and there was probably more that I can't remember!
I put the water in the bottom end of the suitcase towards the wheels so that it wasn't top heavy when pulling it through the airport. I put the "crushable" snacks in a nike shoebox so that they didn't get smushed.
It worked great! I only used 1 suitcase for clothing anyway, so the "foodcase" was used for souvenirs on the trip home!

The only thing you have to watch for is the weight of the bag...that water is pretty heavy and you don't want to end up having to pay extra to the airline for a heavy bag!

Good luck!

We're def. staying at a resort...no rented house! I want to be onsite for our first trip, we got the dining plan, but I hate that we already had to plan our dinner times and places 3 months in advance (I don't even know what time I'm eating dinner tonight, let alone 3 months from now:rotfl: ) And we are used to eating around the clock anyways, I know that we will wake up at 3AM and have the munchies for something popcorn:: , I'm just not sure what the best way to get it is going to be :thumbsup2

You are going to be so stuffed on the dining plan that you are not going to need extra snacks. Seriously.
Don't take a ton of food because you are going to end up either carting back home or throwing away a lot of it.

I love your beagles avatar, we used to have two beagles as well (gone now to disease and old age).
