Hello:

I am 53 years old and have NEVER flown anywhere. We are looking to go to wdw and we usually drive from hamilton. My husband gets very frustrated with me as I have a problem with claustrophobia and entrapment in a crowded place problem.

I see westjet are flying out of hamilton airport to orlando three times a week. Can anyone who has flown on westjet to orlando out of hamilton please tell me if I who has (claustrophobia) will feel claustrophobic in one of the westjet planes. I know it is a silly question but I have never been in a plane before. I don't want to try it and take a panic attack or something like that. In that case I would rather drive the 20 hours.

Thanks,

Deb.

I wish I could help you more, but you might want to find out what size of plane the flight is on. Also, maybe speak to your doctor about something you can take to take the edge off.

I can't assist with the claustrophobia I'm afraid, but if you're willing to drive to Buffalo, flights originating in the U.S. tend to be far less expensive compared to flying out of Canada.

Hi Deb!
We flew out of Mount Hope a couple of years ago...but not with WJ.And we loved the experience of not having to drive far to the airport. I know you have issues with flying and I also have a relative who hates to fly.She always gets her Dr. to give her a couple of light type sedatives just to calm her down....one for going and one for returning home.I'm not really a happy flyer either but I have more issues with driving than flying.Plus I want to get to Florida QUICKLY!!!!!;)

I have also heard that WJ is fantastic!

Happy New Year to you and your family Deb!:)
We're still loving the country life and are in the planning stages for our first all inclusive trip to the Caribbean!:thumbsup2

I am sorry to read about your claustrophobia. It sounds really terrible :( Honestly, planes are pretty cramped these days. They shove as many seats as they can onto the plane to make more money. If you are a petite person I think you will feel better. A window seat may feel better I think.

The perfect situation would be for you to fly first class because those seats and that area is very very spacious.

You could always let the flight attendants know of your situation and maybe they could move your seat if you feel uneasy.

Also, your Dr. can give you medication you know. A lot of people take something before flying.

Hi Everyone:

Thanks for the advice. I wish I was able to even peek into a plane at hamiilton airport, then maybe I could judge if I would feel panic. I don't want to freak out or get a panic attack with breathing difficulties and be taken off the plane cause they think I am having a heart attack.

I do love my hubby driving to wdw, it is just the time aspect and leaving 2 dogs longer than I have to, (one would be broken hearted if I left for a long time, he lies by the door that I left thru and will wait til I return,)

Thanks again,

Deb.
