We've always flown with checked baggage and I'm not sure of the procedure when flying without. My In-laws will be bringing our suitcases with them by car so all we will have is one carry-on suitcase, my purse, the camera and a laptop. What exactly will we need to do at the airport. We plan on printing our boarding passes at the 24 hour mark, do we still need to go to the Southwest counter or can we proceed directly to security and then to the gate and check in at that counter? I'm sure someone will have to see our ID's, I just don't know where.
Thanks loads!

No need to stop at the ticket counter. When you get to security they will check your ID.

1) do we still need to go to the Southwest counter?

No

2) or can we proceed directly to security and then to the gate?

Yes

3) and check in at that counter?

Not necessary

When you log in to get your boarding passes, you've checked in. Securtiy will check your ID. That's it.

Very easy without checked luggage. Just take your printed boarding passes, and go right to the gate. Have a great time!
