I also posted this on the transportation site but thought I might be able to get some help here:

Has anyone been in this situation. When I search airline prices online I can usually get a flight out of Buffalo for about $150/pp less than flying out of Toronto. I am seriously considering driving to Buffalo the day before, staying at a hotel (about $60 USD/night) and taking their airport shuttle to the airport. It looks like I can leave our car at the hotel.

Anyone have any thoughts either way about this? I am thinking the only major drawback is the drive home after we get back - approx 1 1/2 hrs from Buffalo to home.

If you want to go cheap going to Buffalo far outweighs flying from Toronto. However, had you have booked westjet last week you probably would have wanted to fly out of Toronto for the prices they were offering. Southwest is a great airline to fly out of Buffalo. We stayed at a hotel close to Buffalo airport. If we were to do it again, I would most probably get up early and drive over and park at the airport. I didn't get any sleep at the hotel and was very tired all day.
Prices have double for westjet since July 12th. I believe there is another airline that is going to start flying from Toronto in the near future, but don't remember which one it is. Maybe someone else can help.
We've flown from both places and driven many times. Go for it!

Have you thought about flying out of Mount Hope Airport (Hamilton)? We just booked 2 weeks ago and got a great price of $59.00 CND each way for each of us but with the taxes and extra charges etc the price shot up to $510.00 ttal for both of us, but that's still a great price.:D

Check out their site and they may have another seat sale.

We just booked a Southwest flight in November for $540.80 USD for 4 of us out of Buffalo. We haven't been able to beat that with any Canadian airline. Even with the exchange, that works out to about $180 per person in Canadian funds, with all taxes and other charges included.
