This was our experience flying out of LaGuardia on Delta flight 667 to Orlando at 6:10am on Saturday 12/01. We arrived at the airport at 4:00 am and the lines were sooo long that it wrapped around 3 times and as soon as you go through the revolving doors you were at the end of that line! There were no one at the counters to check us in till 4:20 am and then then only 3 counters were opened. My husband suggested curbside check in but it was too late....that line was pretty long also and since we've been waiting already I decided not to get off. Bad idea! Around 5:10 am a supervisor started to ask for those passengers travelling to Atlanta on the 6:00 am flight and started a new line just for them! The Orlando passengers were not happy to say the least. After some voices were heard, they opened some more check in counters and began to alternate the Orlando and Atlanta flights. I mean we were just 10 minutes after the 6:00am flight. So to make this very long story short and sorry for the shouting.....USE CURBSIDE CHECK IN - SPEND THE EXTRA $2 TO $3! Then after we finally checked in we had to go to security and lo and behold another long line! Do not go to the one right after the Delta counters, go to the very last line by the Northwest airlines and you will have a much shorter wait. Knowing that there would be no food served except beverages we bought snacks with us. Good thing that we did because there was another outrageous line for coffee at Starbucks! We left Orlando on Thursday 12/6 and as soon as we saw those lines to check in (we had flight 492 departing 5:20 pm) we turned right back around and did curbside check in. 2 minutes and we were done! Went right to securitynot too long a wait and then we actually had enough time to get something to eat since there would be no food served again and do last minute shopping. So again do curside check
ins and you will be able to relax a bit! :D

thanks for the info - we will be taking that flight on a saturday in january!
Do the skycaps still give out boarding passes?

Yes, they do. They do and ask everything the attendant do at the counters. We handed him our paper tickets and ids. He then asked how many pieces of luggage and got the tags for them and we watch him put them on and then he returned with our tickets and boarding passes. Just double check to make sure you get everything back. We went straight to the gate and I double checked at the gate and was told that we were already checked in and to relax. I find that Orlando airports are much better than LaGuardia's.

Thanks, we'll be flying out of LGA in Feb. Can I use curbside with etickets? Also, what's the charge for curbside...is it just a couple bucks tip per bag or is it a set price?

no the cost is the tip...for baggage handling...I'm curious about the e-ticket too

I was on that same flight 11/24. After the frustration of checking in. We got on the plane, it started ta pull away from the gate, we stopped moving. Sat there for 20 minutes, finally the Flight Attendant announces the plane is not "air worthy." Turns out the plane hit the jetway and had a big gash in the side. They told us they were putting us on a plane to Atlanta and we had to "re=Check" in. After standing on that line they announced they had another plane coming to take us. Get opn that plane, sit there for 30 minutes before they tell us they need to replace a reserve battery. That took another hour and a half. we finally took off at 10:30, so much for getting up at 2:30. MCO was a breeze, there was no line, we were checked in, in about 3 minutes.

Yes you can use curbside with E-tickets.

We've flown out of LGA several times on that 6am flight, and never had any problems, but then again that was before 9/11! I must say that we always used curbside baggage checkin, because the lines inside always looked long. It definately saves time! Still, I'm not looking forward to flying this summer, if we still go!
