Ok... everyone with a crystal ball help me out please!!!!! I am so discouraged right now. We are planning a trip the end of August before my son goes back to college..... but the cost of airfare out of Knoxville is terrible right now. Last year we flew for $199/each. I checked the price with Delta as soon as August flights were shown for this year and the tickets were again $199/each for about ONE DAY!. Now they are about $340/each and keep going up. Independence Air just left Knoxville so I am assuming that has something to do with it however last year Delta was by far cheaper than all the other airlines, including Independence.

Does anyone out there have any insight into the airline situation in Knoxville? I don't think I can pay that much to fly... I quess I could break down and drive but is is soooo much easier to fly. I for one think the Magical Express was great and easy but then I'm not hard to please. I also love the value resorts!!!! I just love being at Disney!!!!!!!

I appreciate any thoughts!

I am watching this for my mother who is going in June. Right now I am getting in the mid $250s, but the cheapear airfare does not go to the summer.

You are correct airfares went up the DAY Independence announced they were gone. I don't think you are going to get $199, but I think the mid $200 is possible.

Also, my mother often drives to Nashville and flys SW or DL out of there. Would you be willing to drive to Nashville?

Thanks for your response. I thought about driving to Nashville. It's about three hours from my house. I just wonder if it is worth it or if I should just suck it up and drive to Orlando. It's about a 12 hour drive if I recall (we drove about four years ago). The worst part of the drive is getting through Atlanta if I recall, can't remember how bad the traffic was around Orlando however I can't imagine it is worse than 75,285 or 400 around Atlanta, can you? (I have a sister who lives in Alpharetta!)

I'm also hoping that the fares with go down to less than $250/each. You give me hope. I could just kick myself for not booking the $199 tickets :sad1: however a lot can happen in a year so my husband isn't keen on booking that far in advance.
