FLying into Sanford

Fellow DVC'ers. ANyone fly into Sanford? Have opportunity to take a couples trip in Dec. for under $100 each RT thru Allegiant. ALWAYS drive the 9 hrs but this would be a Friday out...Monday back trip. Trying to decide if worth it or IF it would cost more to get from Sanford to SSR. Thanks for any help as I KNOW nothing about flying.

The Sanford airport is about 40 to 50 miles from WDW depending on route. Disney does not offer Magical Express, so you would need to rent a car or use a car service to get you to your resort.

We are not DVCers but fly with Allegiant regularly. We usually fly from TriCities or Knoxville. We find it is a great deal and we always like to have a car at WDW anyway, so renting one isn't a big deal. We also prefer to avoid the toll road that is recommended by most GPS and drive to WDW on I4.

Our friends who will be joining us for the marathon had reservations on Allegient. They were just notified that their return flight had been cancelled. So they got a full refund on their tickets (because Allegient won't fly them back the next day either - they only fly Thur and Sun for our airport) and will be booking another airline in and out of MCO.
