Flying in couple days before cruise, need PCR

I have seen people be told by Inspire that the home PCR for under-12s is no longer going to work for DCL due to timelines.

I think this question is obsolete now. I've read that tests are now required at the port upon arrival. They are rapid tests, done regardless of your vaccination status.
No, the PCR test for 11 and under before the cruise is not obsolete. It is in addition to everyone now being required to test at the port.

Also, see if the testing location at MCO is available (although I have heard about terrible lines)

Advent Health/Centra Care at MCO takes appointments. Their Rapid RT-PCR is $175.00. I booked that as a backup in case the lab PCR my son will take on September 17th(that's the earliest they can take the test now, per CDC's new guidance) fails to get me the results in time. I was told by "Twyla" at DCL, that results needed to be uploaded to Safe Passage 24 hours prior to sailing which is 5:00pm on Sunday September 19th.

I posted this a couple of days ago. Great article about tests. Maybe something in here might work for you?

Quick Covid Tests For Travel
There are quite a few in your area for rapid testing, but unfortunately they are pricey. But it may be the only option.
Airport:

Orlando:
https://fasttestnow.as.me/orlandoIt needs to be a Rapid PCR. Disney will not accept an Antigen test.

We are in the same predicament as the OP, we are arriving 5 days before our cruise. We have little kids and really do not want to bring car seats and rent a car. If Inspire can not process results in 72 hours of the mail-in tests being taken, then Disney needs to change the length of time back to 5 days. I'm guessing the original time frame was suggested by Inspire as a workable process. So Disney is going to turn away families who say they mailed in their tests supplied by DCL's partner 3 days ago because the results aren't reported yet?

Disney did not change anything, it's the CDC's latest guidance. Totally stinks. I've spent the last week, since they've changed it from 5-3 days, trying to get confirmation that a PCR test my son takes next Friday, will yield results by Sunday. Nobody, not the state testing site, CVS, nor Walgreens will gurantee results in less than 2 days. Walgreens has a rapid test that is not Antigen so I'm hopeful I can make an appointment next Wednesday. If all else fails, I have a Rapid PCR booked for the day we arrive in Orlando at Advent Health right in the airport.

As far as the kits, if you purchased one, you should have been contacted for a refund. They will not be able to process them with the time given.

Everything I've read says the test needs to be taken no more than 3 days before the sail date, but is it 3 days or 72 hours? The reason I ask is that when we went to Hawaii in February, they were very strict about how many hours before your flight you could take a test and have it be valid. So we had to be careful to test after a certain time of day. Is that the case here, or is it just three days before?

I asked that specifically and was told time didn’t matter just specifically dates. We sail Friday 9/17 and anything with Tuesday was valid

I also think that the adults need to have a test 48 hours or less before arriving at the port. Starting Sept 13.

Adults do not need a pre test. Under 12's need BOTH a pre test and a test at the port. All other guests (who have to be vaccinated) get a rapid test at the port on DCL's dime. I am in the middle of the process right now. As a vaccinated adult I do not have to pre test....but we did have to created an account with SafePassage and upload our vaccination documentation. We waited for a quite a few days until we received an "all clear to arrive at port" message today. At the port all guests will have to do a rapid test. We sail on 9/27.

We are traveling as adults and I feel sickened the issues parents are having in trying to get these pre tests done for their kids. I feel terrible for them. The 5 day timeline was at least doable but the CDC cutting it down to 3 days is just nuts.
