Has anyone ever flown in first trimester of their pregnancy? Good idea or no? We have a trip booked in Jan but are also going to start trying for baby #2, maybe we should wait to sstart trying until after the trip? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Jen

I flew in the 1st trimester during both of my pregnancies. Personally, I didn't have any problems and the OB/GYN said it was fine both times. But if you are prone to morning sickness, it might be a tough flight. The 2nd time I was a little nauseous by the time we landed. Just remember to drink lots of water, get an aisle seat for all those bathroom trips and bring a snack.

I've flown quite a few times during 1st trimester. There is no risk to you or the baby from flying during this time (just do what you'd normally do at home, like being sure to stay hydrated and get enough rest). However, of course you know that you might well have some pretty bad morning sickness, which wouldn't be fun on an airplane! I was really morning/all day sick one time when I flew at about 10 weeks, and it helped me to sit in an aisle seat (more breathing room) and to be sure I had plenty of cold water to drink. Smells really bothered me so I was glad we weren't sitting right by the lavatory or galley.

I say, if you are ready, go ahead and start "working" on baby #2! Have fun, and enjoy WDW!

Remember to get up and walk around during the flight too. I am not a doctor and forget things easily but its that vein thing in your legs that can get blocked during flights. Going to the bathroom frequently would probably do it, though.

have fun!

When I was pregnant, it was the 3rd trimester that flying was verboten to me.
Follow the advice already posted and relax. Your baby will be enjoying the sounds of WDW right along with you.

I flew then, I just avoided dairy products which seem to make motion sickness worse. I dranks lots of water, wore Sea Bands and did fine. I don't travel well to begin with, so I'm super careful when I'm pregnant.

If you conceive before your trip and are having trouble with morning sickness, ask your doctor for a prescription before you go so you won't be miserable the whole time. I took Phenergan 25mg. I was allowed to take it up to 4 times a day, but I just took it once in the morning and I was fine all day.

Thanks everyone for all your help!! I guess now is as good of a time as any cause god knows I'm not getting any younger!;) I wrote down the name of that drug just in case as I'm not a good flyer to begin with either. Thanks, Jen

Hi there, here is what happened to me.

Last year we were trying for kid number 2 starting in Aug and had a trip planed to WDW for Jan 2 to 7th. I got prenant around thanksgiving.

My thought was "What was I thinking." I had really bad pregnacy sickness with my 1st daughter so I knew I was in for it.

Well when I told my OBG-YN about the trip and my fear of being sick all around the world he took pitty on me and gave me Zofan. It really helped and made me feel much better. He gave me samples because he said it was "a little pricey." Turns out it is $30 a pill!!!! My insurance did cover it thank God.

Anyway the trip was great (8 weeks) no probelms flying or anything else for that mater. Infact I felt so good the whole trip just being at WDW that I didn't need it there, (at home I did.)

The funny part of the story is we had some friends come with us for their 1st trip. She also was trying, and found out she was pregant the day they left to come. She was 4 weeks behind me. The funny thing is both babies were born 4 weeks apart, but both a week early!

Now I have a 3 month old, and our next trip is March 2005, she will be 7 months old. Our friends are coming with us again, so we will have 2 almost 4 year olds and 2 babies this trip!
