Hi, this will be out first trip to WDW, and also our first time flying anywhere as a family. I have no idea what is a good price for our flight. Anyone who flys from Detroit to MCO have a ballpark figure I can go by? I hear SW is really good?
Our dates are 11/27/05-12/03/05 there are 2 adults and 2 children. When should we book? Now, or will sales come out closer to the dates?
Thanks!

With 11/27 being the Sunday after Thanksgiving fares will likely be high. Is there any wiggle room with your dates?

We could do anytime after that I guess. Would it be better to wait until Monday or after to leave?

i flew spirit airlines dec 21 and dec 29 for 4 people ,2 adults and 2 kids,,it was 988.00 from detroit to mco,,,,,,i booked early,,,,

The fares usually go down the Tues. after Thanksgiving. We wanted to go then but couldn't. I was sick when I saw the fares from FNT to MCO at around $136 RT! Don't know what they'll do this year with fuel prices and all, but for the first few weeks after Thanksgiving they're usually pretty darn good! And I believe it's value season for the resorts. We've never had a problem getting a discount.

This past Dec., I got a fare of $168 on NWA from Det - MCO. I got a RR ticket on SWA for Easter, it's a freebie, but DH's fare was $180. I am flying SPIRIT in June to MCO for just a tad under $200. With the price of fuel going up, I have feeling that airfare out of DTW is going to be in the $200 range.

dtw to mco, when we have our rooms booked, and we try to plan at least five months ahead, then starts the air fare hunt. first place i look is internet home (which ever home page you use) travel, i plug in the dates i want, and there i have a pretty good idea what is being charged. make notes at this point, i check back with the one or two air lines who had the best price on there home page the next monday and wednesday, over the next couple of weeks, until i believe the fares are good enough, it seems when the prices change it is on these days, one rule i do follow, we never use connection flights to save a few bucks, dtw is a major hub and there are always direct flights to mco, not worth the hassle with delayed flights or lost luggage. best of luck!!

Not sure of holiday pricing, but we booked 5 tickets on Spirit for 7/15-7/24 for $908 out of DTW.

Thanks, I knew you guys would help! I will start looking around (pricing the differences between leaving Sunday or leaving Tuesday. When will the SW fares for late Nov. be coming out?

I just checked a few sites, I am finding Spirit to be pretty good. I found I can do all 4 of us rt for $707.60 (thats including taxes and everything). This was using the new dates of 11/29-12/5.

Edited to add: I just tried cheaptickets.com for the same dates and got a fare of $629.36 (also Spirit) total! This is good right?

Yes, $160 is quite good. You can sometimes do a little better from DTW, but not by much.

Got $157 (no tax, service fees, etc.) in Jan on NWA. Try NWA's site, you'll be able to do flexible search to find which days are cheaper.
