Who has taken this route? We have the choice of United or Continental for the Tupperware Convention in August 2010. Has anyone flown with them before, and if so what did you like and not like about the airline?

Im looking for a cheap way to get down to florida for our flight. any tips?

I've had some bad experiences with United (left my luggage in Chicago, rude employees), so I personally wouldn't go with them. I've also never flown on Continental so I'm not too sure what they're like. I like WestJet but I know they are more expensive to get down to Orlando.

Hi i will be going to the convention also but am from grande prairie. To my knowledge you can take any airline, but the ones they offer have a bit of a discount for us, but not much.
West jet i think is still cheaper but air canada flys to orlando also
If you want to you can pm me
Thanks and have fun

We are not that far from you. How funny, We are flying out of Edmonton . Who are you going to go with? and what dates? My friend is the consultant, Im just going along with her. Have you booked anything yet? I have been doing alot of research to try and have this trip not cost a fortune.

Just my 2 bits worth, here. We usually fly YEG-MCO with United, but through Denver. Most of the horror stories seem to be about connections in Chicago. I like the 6:40 AM departure that gets you into MCO around 4:00 PM. I like flying through DEN, it's always more laid back and friendly. :)

No not to far from you. I am actually a manager now, and my manager is going ( she is from here) we are actually all on Power of ones team ( Naomi)
we have only booked our rooms there is 3 so far but are watiting till flights go down lol.
The hotels rooms can have 4 we are staying right at Corando springs so that makes it a bit cheaper.
We are going to try to go from the monday to the sunday as it is the 12 to the 14th for our group. I would love to go to the parks and shopping also so hopefully there is time.
It will be exciting.

I have flown both airlines out of Edmonton to Orlando, and my preference is Continental for a couple of reasons. First, Continental is flying 737's out of YEG and United is flying CRJ's. Those CRJ's are two seats on either side of the aisle and are just a little too small for me.

I also prefer Houston as a hub because you are most of the way there and the final flight is just a relatively short hop. That having been said, United has been okay enough that I would fly them if the price was right, but ONLY through Denver.

I WILL NOT fly through Chicago unless there was absolutely, positively no other option. I have almost always experience delays, missed flights, lost luggage or combinations thereof when flying through Chicago. Won't do it.

EDIT: The one thing I forgot to add is that I think United has more options to get out of YEG. I believe Continental is only flying one flight out in the early morning and one flight in in the late evening. I like the early morning, late night schedule, but not everyone does.

From YYC
We booked our trip on expedia and the flights were booked through United via expedia.
However we flyout of Calgary on Air Canada to Houston Then from Houston to Orlando is on Continental
They are United flights but operated by the other airlines. We only fly back on United.:confused3
This is the fourth trip I have booked on Expedia and have been happy with the price and all airlines we've been on. We have never had a problem with either one. However I do like Westjet and Air Canada because there is no extra cost for bags and such and Westjet seats are GREAT

We've flown Northwest/Delta from YEG to MCO for most of our trips down to DisneyWorld, however, for our trip this coming May we got a great deal on a flight with United (through Chicago on our way down, through Denver on our way back) ... but after reading allissimmo's and tiggerrr's posts about problems connecting through Chicago, I'm starting to panic

I don't want to create too much panic. I've never had anything unrecoverable happen through Chicago (my luggage has always shown up the same day and I've always gotten to where I've been going the same day, but I've been rebooked alot (even the day when my MCO-ORD-YEG flight became MCO-ORD-DFW-YYC-YEG, that was Canadian Airlines-American Airlines way back when). My worst experiences have been in winter, so maybe May will be good.

What time of day are you flying out? The early morning (7:30?) or the mid-day (12:45?)? The earlier the better (I hope you're 7:30). The reason is that once you get to Chicago, United usually has 2 more direct flights after the one you will be on. If anything happens to you or your luggage, that's two more opportunities to get to MCO.

The best advice I can give you that we do every time we fly, but especially through problem hubs is to have both the number for United reservations and a list of alternate flights out of Chicago. If your flight is cancelled or unreasonably delayed, call the number and try to get rebooked. The reservation number can help you just as easily as an agent at the airport (the one that every other passenger will be mobbing when a flight is cancelled).

Other than that I would say that always remember that you are going to the most magical place on earth and you WILL get there.:wizard:

::yes:: Yes we are on the 7:30 am flight! Great advice about the alternate flights ... I actually have an app for the iPhone that monitors your flights and gives you a list of the alternate flights.

We usually fly out of Calgary as we find it cheaper then Edmonton and better selection of flights for most airlines.

Good luck!

We have done this flight the past 2 Decembers worked just fine. I would say United is not the highest end flight going. But gets the job done. I like the wide range of flight times they offer and they are the cheepest I have found yet.
