For those who have flown from one of the DC area airports to MCO, how much are flights generally? I'm seeing tickets ~$160 and wanted to know if this is a normal price or if they will come down closer to my trip (going in February). Thanks!
Our tickets are $235 round-trip. BUT, we're flying from Johnstown, Pa., to Dulles, then from Dulles to MCO.
If we flew from Dulles, it would have been about $195 round-trip, and we decided to add the Johnstown to Dulles leg, because we live about 2 miles from the Johnstown airport. It was about $40 more to add that.
$200 round-trip at the most sounds reasonable to me.
I fly out of Dulles (6 times a year to MCO) and we never pay over $200 total. Our last trip (earlier this month) we paid $59 each way ($138 total) -- not the normal fare, but a good sale. Generally the prices on Jetblue range around $79-84 each way. My trip for next weekend I paid $59 down and $79 home. I only buy one way tickets. Keep in mind when crunching the numbers for airfare remember to add the luggage fee in to the airlines that charge it. Remember SW and Jetblue do not change a luggage fee. BTW -- SW no longer flys to Orlando non-stop, so you would have to go to BWI for a SW non-stop flight.
Out of curiousity, What airlines do you guys prefer for your flights from DC to MCO? Is everybody here mostly SW/Jetblue fans? or do other airlines make it into the mix?
Thanks! I plugged in some early Dec. dates to see what was available and I saw prices ~$130 so I wasn't sure if that was the norm or if the ~$160 was the norm. Thanks again!

For those of us that prefer DCA, the current choices are AirTran and US Airways - but JetBlue is about to enter the market, and Delta is about to resume service in the market.
I have doubts that the DCA-MCO market is profitable enough to support four competitors for very long - but so long as it lasts, there ought to be some good deals.

i've been checking flights since I personally prefer delta, and have been noticing the flights have been fluctuating a lot for flights in March. Cheapest flight out of anywhere in the DC area looks to be airtrain right now (approx $197 out of BWI), with Delta coming in second at $224.

Just remember, when comparing these flights, don't forget to add in the luggage fees. I fly out of Dulles and have been staying with Jetblue or SW because of the free luggage perk. I used to fly United exclusively until they started charging for luggage. Both SW and JB will offer a credit if the price drops.

when we would fly out of Dulles, we never paid more than about $150 RT. We usually paid about $120 RT ($39-$49 each way plus fees). BUT, this was 1 1/2 years ago. I dont know how much it has changed since the last time we flew out of there.
