We just got back from a week long vacation. We always eat at the Flying Fish and was looking forward to it after the refurbishment. While I can say it was good, I miss the old atmosphere and menu. My children usually eat off the adult menu but when we had gone here before they would always order off the kids menu and get the grilled cheese. Always said it was the best they ever had. Its gone. We always got the Chargrilled new york strip. It has been replaced with a filet or bison strip. While the filet was pretty good it was nowhere comparable to the strip. All the sides are gone as well. Just wanted to see what others thought if you have eaten before and after the refurb.

Dining at Flying Fish had been a must-do every trip since 2006 and the Chef's Tasting experience we did before the refurb was more enjoyable than our V&A one. We were excited about the update to the decor and couldn't wait to go back. While I do like the new look, we were disappointed in our dining experience. We ordered a bottle of the Riesling suggested on the menu to pair with our main course; but the waiter returned to say they were out. The scallop main course was sickeningly rich and the antebellum grits tasted raw. If this had been an appetizer, it would have been fine; but we could not finish an entire meal of it. In addition, the pricing has gone up significantly. We just cannot justify going back at this time. Ultimately, I think we just don't care for the vision of the new chef. If/when there is a turnover, I'm sure we will be up to going back. I don't think we'll return until then. Luckily, Blue Zoo is just across the bridge.

We loved the new decor, it is beautiful.

Miss old menu items -- I missed the mussels appetizer, dh the potato wrapped snapper, dd was fine with changes to kids menu.

New menu is ok, but the inflated prices were jarring. We will likely give it another chance when we return in the fall, but know you're not alone in feeling disappointed in new menu.

We were huge fans of the Dlying Fish before the refurb, and we enjoyed it even more afterwards. The food and experience were still top notch. I tend or orderthe special or whatever the chef recommends. I don't see any reason to get hung up on one entree and be disappointed when the menu changes. I go here because I trust the chef and I've never been disappointed.

Dined there last November. Good, not great. Not worth the price even for Disney. We we had seafood for apps and entrees. Can't speak to the steaks. Good service but won't go back.

Can't bring myself to go back - the mussels were the best anywhere and I always, always ordered those even as a meal. My dh loved the steak and my dd loved the kid's menu items...but the mussels, the snapper and the steak were the highlights (and the best). Have no desire to go back now, just hate when they fix things that aren't broken. I know changes have to happen here and there, I get it, but those were the signature items. It's like going to B&C with no ice cream (to me anyway;)...:(

I loved my dinner at the Flying Fish in 2012. I forget what they called it--maybe it was the Chef's Tasting. IDK, but I got a half portion each of Caesar salad and crab cakes, the snapper and steak, and then a regular sized portion of banana Napoleon.

Everything was excellent, and the package price made it a decent deal.

The menu now just sounds weird, and the prices are ridiculous. I thought I read somewhere that the menu was supposed to be seasonal, but every time, I've checked it or read a review, it sounds like the same offerings. Compressed watermelon? Dehydrated milk foam for dessert? No thank you.

I went once before the refurb and once after. I liked the new decor much better and my meal was excellent.

By the way the seasoning they used on their steaks before the refurb was the hickory chargrill. You can find it at walmart or order it off amazon and we use it all the time on our steaks. However the way they cooked it over the oak coals really makes a difference.

I ate everything on my plate but I say the dining experience at the california grill can't be beat and the steaks at Le Cellier are better. If you are going after that customer you need something that stands out. Just my opinion.

As much as we liked the old decor, I love the new look. While there are a few items we miss on the menu, I thought the new menu was great. Our only gripe, the table we were seated at had VERY cold air blowing on it. we actually asked to be moved to a different table because of it. They moved us, and the rest of the meal was great!

I was nervous about the new menu and decor but our meal in December was fabulous. We liked the food the atmosphere, and the service.
