I am a solo for my next trip and I have heard little snippets about this restaurant. Please tell me all about it!

TIA!

DH & I really like this restaurant ~ it has a very metropolitan feel and the snapper wrapped in potato is delicious.
Lovely open kitchen where you could dine and it is comfortable there for solos and/or couples.
Delicious flights of champagne and service is good.

Hope you give it a try and report back ~

After V&A's, FF is our favorite WDW restaurant. We've been there seven times and each time the food and service have been great.

Menu highlights...

Apps: chardonnay steamed mussels, fried calamari w/Asian dipping sauce, crab cake, tuan tartare

Main courses: grilled scallops w/risotto, any of the fish entrees (duh!! :) )--DW had pumpkin seed crusted Tilapia the last time we went and it was really good. I had the seared tuna and it was also very good. They also do meat very well if you are a carnivore.

Desserts: They're all good. :)

ETA: Our most recent servers have been Rebekah, Tim and Joey. All three were excellent.

FF is a gem in the world of WDW dining. Excellent food and service, nice atmosphere. One of our top 3 places to eat each trip.

Delicious food, fantastic service, and you can stroll on the boardwalk before and after. I think it would be a great place for a solo because the staff areas talkative as you want them to be - casual and friendly but very professional. I think you'll like it.

These reviews sound great. I think this might be my "nice" meal while I'm there. I rarely get dressed up for dinner, but I might make an exception here even though I will have to go back to POFQ and change ... and go back to EPCOT and walk through the gateway? Hmmm - I don't think I want to do that in nice shoes. On second thought ... what do you all wear?

A friend and I ate at FF last August and weren't so impressed, though after reading the replies to this topic, I'm wondering if we just hit on off night. We found the food to be decent, but not exactly memorable, and given what we were paying we were expecting memorable. Out of the 7 table service restaurants we tried that week (4 of which being Signature Dining experiences), Flying Fish was our least favorite. Granted, we were incredibly pleased with most of our choices, so it may have suffered by comparison, but I remember thinking the food a little uninspired even while we were eating there.

I was however quite charmed by the space itself. The whimsical decor was very attractive and inviting.

You do not have to wear a suit, but we try to dress up a bit. No jeans or t-shirts for us. You would be comfortable in some nice slacks, capris or a skirt.

I'll cut to the chase: FlyingFish is great. Go there. Unless you don't like seafood, but I hear the non fish options are great as well. If you're alone (or even a group of 2) sit at the counter, you'll have a great view of the kitchen, and rumors are that the chefs have a bad habit of slipping samples to customers there.

Comparing it the other signature restaurants (though I've only been to three), I think it is as good if not better than Artist's Point, but not quite as good as the California Grill.

You can always go back, change and hop in a cab that drops you off at Boardwalk. I have seen people in all kinds of clothes but I usually wear capris, a heeled sandal and a twinset. DH khakis and golf shirt or long sleeve
depending on the weather.

Or, take a bus from your resort to Hollywood Studios. From there you can walk along the walking path to Boardwalk, or take the boat. No need to walk through Epcot.

You do not have to go back and change, you can go in park attire. We have done so several times, including just this past Saturday night. Keith the manager welcomed us with open arms, the chef made a stop to visit with us personally. It was an extremely busy night, the food and service were outstanding as usual.

I always love the crab cake app, this time we had that and the tuna tartare..all I can say is wow, best tartare I have every had anywere.

Entrees were wonderful as usual. Chef said just about time to change the risotto under the scallops again. They had some new cheeses for the cheese course. Some great wines to try.

We, in fact, had a single sitting next to us. We loved visiting with him, he welcomed the company and we all had a great time!

We usually wear park attire, but on our last trip, we had two teenage girls with us who desperately wanted to have another chance to wear their (high school) Winter Ball gowns a second time. We tried for reservations at Cali Grill, but came up empty, and we can't afford V & A for a crowd, so we went to FF. It was a blast. People just smiled at our girls all night long, both in the restaurant and as we strolled the boardwalk. They loved the chance to dress up and show off a little, and they even said they had more fun than they did at the Winter Ball. We had a car, so transportation wasn't a problem. We did FF on our AK day, so we had time to go back to our resort and change. Fun, fun, fun!

We love it and went twice on our last trip. I've got some pics in my dining review, there's a link in my sig!:thumbsup2

We ate at FF in June 2007. We loved it!! Food was excellent! We even took our 4 year old (don't know if we would do that again). Dinner did take a little long but I would definately go there in a heartbeat if I didn't have my daughter along.

You could either take a bus to Disney Studios, then Friendship boat to Boardwalk or take the boat from POFQ to DTD, then bus to Boardwalk. I wouldn't walk all the way through Epcot to get there.
