I haven't flown since they instituted the new security rules regarding liquids, etc. in carry-ons. I keep looking through my carry on and purse worrying that they will find something that I'm not supposed to be carrying onto the plane. When my DD flew to California last August they pulled her aside at Pearson security and dumped everything out of her purse and carry on. They went through each item. When my cousin came from Wales last June they wouldn't let her through security with both a purse and carry on. She was able to squash her purse into her carry on. By the time you are going through security you no longer have your suitcase with you so you can't put whatever it is that is being rejected into your suitcase. Has anyone had any issues when going through security that would give me a heads up on what I should not be carrying. I know I'm being paranoid but I will be extremely glad when I am sitting in the boarding lounge waiting to board. For me this is the most stressful part of the trip.

Where are you flying from? The rules may be slightly different if you are flying out of Toronto or Buffalo.

The most important things to remember is to arrive early at the airport, since it will take time to check in and go through customs and security screening. Make sure that you have you passport out and at the appropriate page, the address of the location you are staying at (if you don't know, the hotel name will suffice if you are staying on WDW). All liquid products must be 100ml or less and be placed in a ziplock baggy (medium size) and taken out of you carry on, when you go through screening. You will be able to purchase water, coffee etc (if you want) and bring in onto the plane after the screening. Having a purse and a carry on bag should not pose a problem, but i would double check with the airline that you are flying with.

hope this helps

Flying out of Pearson Airport Toronto via Westjet from Terminal 3.
There was a newspaper article recently that talked about how much stuff is confiscated every day. Apparently it is donated to the needy. Seemed weird to me.

Just go early and give yourself lots of time. There will be lots of business travellers there on a Mon morning.

We just travelled from Detroit and had no problems. I just left everything I wasn't sure of in the checked bags. To make it easier, I have a travel "purse" - my tinkerbell tote!!! So I know what's in there when i pack it. good luck, but don't worry it's still very smooth and easy to fly!

I have been flying alot this year for business and have gone through security (Canada and US) more than my share of times. My experience has been that, while there are clear rules, the rules become more fuzzy when implemented. For example, on our last family trip, my little one had a prescription medicine (liquid) in a bottle larger than 200 ml. However... the rules are that prescription medicine is exempt from the size limit (as are some other liquids deemed essential). I was told it wasn't allowed. I asked (nicely) if the rep could please check on that and said that I had the information on this if she wanted. The supervisor backed her up. Having anticipated this, however, I had printed out the govt information and (kindly, quietly) showed the supervisor who nodded us through. My advice-- print off the list if you have anything liquid (including liquid gravol or tylenol if you have that for the kids, even if it is under 200 ml), take items only in their original containers, don't use gel insoles, empty any waterbottles, and finish your coffee before you go through security. Use the ziplock bags that they provide. Put your lipstick, foundation or anything creamy or liquidy into the bag. They focus much more attention on what isn't in the bag than on what is.

Put all electronics in one bag and have either you of your partner take charge of that so that the other can take the kids through security and reload the bags, etc. They take their time with the electronics.

I know it is daunting, but you will be going through security a lot (at least on the ships that I have sailed on) and it does become routine after a while.
