Fly-Through Video Of New "Central Plaza"

It's now going to look like the Tokyo Disney hub.

What are those two "castle walls" looking things up in front of the central plaza near the castle? They seem to be far away from the actual castle, but look similar to the New Fantasyland Walls...

If I'm not mistaken, the refurb they are doing outside Casey's right now is the beginning of this transformation. It looks like there are going to be a lot of constructions walls going up in order to complete the overhaul.

I suppose it had to be done for crowd management. But I will miss the waterways that will be filled in. And the rose garden. Anyone know if they'll finally be removing the Swan boats dock?

Wow those are some MAJOR changes. Lots more walking room but it covers a lot of the water.

I think those are the 2 small buildings that are there now "rethemed".:)

It also "looks" like there will be a new Castle Forecourt Stage.:)

Do you think this will take all year? Any chance of it being finished by October? :rotfl:

I guess I don't care, I can't seem to get a picture in my mind of what the construction will look like.

For the most part, this is a nice improvement.

We like to eat our ice cream at the seats by the water near the Plaza Restaurant, but we'll do fine with the new seating.

I especially like the new exit, since we really don't watch the parades anymore. Now we won't have to fight the crowds or go through the shops to exit the park.

Looks nice, and it will provide some much needed relief for congestion in that are during parades and fireworks. I wish they would have confirmed the Main Street Bypass, too.

I'm afraid to ask...have they said when this latest round of construction is slated to be complete? I haven't seen the MK without construction walls in so many years. It's getting ridiculous.

On the other hand...when it's finished, it will I'm sure be lovely and helpful to traffic flow.

That is definitely happening. If you notice, there is a direct path to it on the overlay link I posted.

I was thinking the same thing! I'm just wondering what will be next though when this is finished ... what else will the be covering with scrims and / digging up?

While I understand the need for better traffic flow (and larger spaces). I don't see that they needed to fill in the moat and destroy the rose garden to do it.

Honestly if you're going to fill in the moat around the old bridge, why replace it with green space? Why not put out two "staging" areas on either side that could have had tables for the QS restaurants on either side (tables!) or be encounter areas for character shows or where people could go out onto the wings to watch the parades or castle shows or the fireworks from there.

This is the type of stuff Walt would've pitched a fit about. "See Walt, we kept the style!" "Why are you guys keeping the style when you're demolishing the space in the first place... improve it..." Frankly I think he would've turned the castle itself into the hub. That castle's got a lot of funky pedestrian space that made sense when it was just a simple attraction. But now that it's a full blown restaurant it's a major thoroughfare.
