Fly Round Trip - Different Airlines?

Hi

We are flying from NJ to WDW. Checking the flights prices, I'm having trouble finding an airline that meets the times I want to go as well as having reasonable prices.

However, I found a flight down on Jet Blue that works and a flight back on Continental that works.

I know you can book one way flights as I have priced them that way to check this option.

Has anyone ever done it this way? I usually have just booked round trip with one airline.

If this isn't a good idea, I found a flight we can take out of JFK that is OK as well. I prefer flying out of Newark, but since we live in Northern NJ, we can also do JFK or LGA if they have better options.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thank you
Noreen

I generally fly TO MCO on SWA and BACK on JetBlue. Their prices are usually similar and the times work better for me using both (SWA gets me in early and JB has the later return flight).:thumbsup2
It has never been a problem with DME and it also gives me the advantage of using a "participating airline" going home!:cool1:

on Delta on the way down @ $69 pp and SWA on the way back @ $79 pp. First time we've ever flown 2 different airlines but price/flight times were most important this trip so why not? DME couldn't care less, they just want times!!

I've done it many times from Minneapolis. Absolutely no problem at all doing this.

I've done Airtran to MCO and Sun Country back. Some friends also did the Airtran/Sun Country thing

I've done Delta to Corpus Christi and Continental back.

I've done Northwest to Phoenix and US Airways back.

No extra issues with security or anything.

We've done it many times. We live in NJ and take Jet Blue or Continental out of Newark. My last trip was AirTran to MCO from ACY and Spirit from TPA to ACY.
The only negative is that if you have to change or cancel, you have to pay two change fees which can add up...

I'm doing it in Oct for the same reasons...timing. SW down and United back. I needed an early afternoon flight, so DD could go to school and be counted as being there most of the day. Coming home, I wanted it as late as I could get. I wanted Jet Blue for the trip home, but they wouldn't lower their costs, so as soon as United did, I booked it.

Book it. I think you will be fine.

Thank you all for the feedback.

I'm glad we have the option of doing this and glad to hear others have done so successfully. Hopefully I can get the flight portion of the trip taken care of this week :)

Thank you again
