Flu hits our house...it wasn’t flu, bronchitis

Glad you are on the mend, Bobbi. Take care.
We started getting insurance for every cruise a year or so ago.......getting older, so want to be prepared

It’s not flu, but bronchitis, pre pneumonia....the medicines are doing their jobs. We both slept more and I can breathe! I was able to move our post cruise stay at VB to February which will be a welcomed reprieve from Cape May winter!

We are in our 70’s and get insurance early to cover pre conditions! Never expected this.

Just want to rest. Tom and I are both improving. We slept in different rooms last night, and Gus, our dog, spent much of the night going back and forth from rooms. He will be happy when things are back to normal, too!

Bobbi
I'm glad you were able to move your cruise. Here's hoping you will continue to heal and will be in great health for your February trip!

Thank you. We did not move the cruise, that’s going to the insurance company. DCL gives a little bit back for cancelling before a certain date, we get forms filled out and sent to the insurance company. If they agree, we get the rest of cost of cruise, if they deny, DCL gives 75% of cost of cruise as credit for a future cruise. We ARE booked on DCLs Transatlantic in September, so there will be a use for that money, but we do not expect to be turned down by the insurance company.
We were going to stay in FL for 4 nights after the cruise, that’s the part we moved. We were planning to go to Festival of the Arts and now have a VB stay tagged on it it.

I really feel so much better! The reason for the cruise was to see what it’s like on DCL on NYE, plus it included my birthday. I still want to experience a NYE cruise, hopefully next year!

So sorry to hear this. We always get out shot because we are 60s and fly and cruise in feb. also insurance too. We will enter our bubble at least two weeks prior to our departure. Feel better and get those new plans made.

Sending you prayers for a speedy recovery. My DM gets walking pneumonia literally every winter (sometimes more than once) & it’s no joke. Lots of rest and fluids.
Gosh, she must hate winter!

Gosh, she must hate winter!
She does! & refuses to go somewhere warmer for part of it or even get a passport :sad2: We are in the most Southern part of Canada, but our winters are damp & long if not always extremely cold.

Happy to see you are feeling better. Book another NYE cruise. We have been on a couple over NYE (DCL and RCCL)and it is fabulous way to begin the new year!

I think we will book next year’s Dream Cruise. It’s not as “good” because it ends on my birthday.

Glad to hear ur on the mend. So many sick this season..my family included.

Actually, the Magic ends on Jan 4, what I would prefer. So, today a sick day, is really a planning day!:)

Hope that you are feeling better! :PinkbouncDisappointing certainly but happy that you have insurance.::yes:: We also purchase trip insurance wherever we travel. One year I got the flu shot, had a nasal swab test and was diagnosed with the flu, wound up being a milder case than not having one. Speedy recovery!

Hi Bobbi,
So sorry to hear the bad news but glad to hear you are both recovering. I fully expected posts from you NYE from DW. Get well soon and maybe we will see you in February.

Charmaine

Glad your feeling better. I have treated many more URI’s, Bronochitis, Pnemonia and Influenza A & B strains (have had a couple patients with both!) this year than in the last 4 years.

I have been sick 3 times myself since November. Be sure to rest even if your feeling better. I have noticed a boomerang effect this year in many patients who did not “take it easy”. Please continue to take care of yourself.

You make me so happy that we cancelled!! There was a thought we would wait, see how we felt on Sunday and then fly to the cruise on Monday. I do think we made the right dec!

Thank you!

I’m so sorry to see this happened to you. We all got the flu on our one and only Disney Cruise, and it stinks. We, and many fellow passengers, were stuck on the boat at the end of the cruise sick as dogs. We’re pretty positive a very sick DCL employee at check in got us all sick. You never know for sure, but it’s an educated guess. I’m glad to see it’s not the flu for you. Drink fluids, rest, and get better!
